I know there's a big list of such things but any idea/recommendation of BB width to go in my Bianchi Pista and shiny new Sugino RD Messengers?
I'm thinking 103mm. Thoughts?

• #653
Yeah, 103mm jis, shimano un55/tange ln3922 will do the job well

The BB on my langster feels like its playing up. Its only been half a year at most I reckon and it feels like the cranks are wobbling when i pedal but when I look down they are not moving. Also there is a clunky, grinding sound so not sure what it is.
I use Miche Primato cranks with a Miche specific square taper BB. could it be the BB wasnt fitted correctly and has come loose? Or is it time for a new one? Or did I simply break it with my power awesomeness?

Hi there,
I just bought a Suntour Superbe Pro crankset and I was wondering what BB I need. The obvious choice is to buy a Suntour BB but I don't have that kind of money at the moment. Google says an ISO BB is prefered and not a JIS one.
I ride with Miche primato hubs which have a 42mm chainline. What (cheap) ISO BB do I need to achieve a 42mm chainline?

Camagnolo square taper is sealed and ISO I think. Something like Veloce or Centaur

Miche stuff looks nice but it's all that rugged, chances are it's new BB time but you could check if it is torqued up still once removing the cranks. Does it feel rough?

Feels a little loose and on pedAl stroke like something broken inside. I tightened it from the outside bolts yesterday but still same noise. Will need to take cranks off I guess to get to te bottom of it. Thanks mate.

Hi guys,
Picked up a road frame (GT Rave) for a build. Internet tells me it was 7 speed - so 126mm rear spacing. Shell measures 68mm.
My S3X hub can give me Chain lines of 42,43,44, and 45mm with the relevant spacers
What length BB spindle do I need?

Hi mates, with all due respect I would like some advice:
I bought a second hand Cinelli Mash and the previous owner rode it with a very missaligned chainline that had a lot of noise and drag when pedaling. This is how the bike was setup when I recieved it:
Frame: Cinelli Mash Histogram 2012-2013
Crankset: Miche Primato Advanced 170mm crankarm length
Bottom Bracket: Stronglight JP400 68x110mm BSA thread JIS
Rear Hub: Paul Components
Cog: BLBMy question is: I want to achieve a perfect chainline but have no idea which Bottom Bracket model and length to buy.
I know this is a trifling question for the experts and that I am an insect that does not deserve to live or even have a bike, but your advice would be very very helpful :)
Many Thanks !!!

well paul components hub are a 44mm chainline, when usually it's a 42mm and when a company gives a reccomendation for bb length it's based on getting a 42mm chainline.
Miche cranks are bit of guesswork now, they used to be 107mm iso for a 42mm chainline, if yours are the 107mm iso, you'll need 111mm iso bb to work perfectly with the paul hubs as the extra 4mm will put the cranks an extra 2mm out on each side
However miche changed their cranks recently to a 107mm jis, and didn't tell anybody, or put any new markings on, which is a bit of a fucker for the likes of you.
At a guess though, yours are the iso version so look for a 111mm iso bb, not tifosi or token though as they're shit, anything campag will do the job

What BB do I need (spindle length and a recommendation would be ideal) to use campag pista cranks with a 44mm chainline?
-
• #669
you'd want something 115mm iso and symmetrical, when the spindles get that big, they're not symmetrical
best bet would be to just use chainring spacers, i've got some 1.2mm ones you can have for £3.50 (they cost £6) if you want?

BB advice needed please:
Have a Cannondale CAAD 10 frame with a BB30 bottom bracket shell. Also have a SRAM Red GXP crankset from a previous build, a Hope ceramic external bottom bracket with the Truvativ / SRAM shims, and an FSA BB30 convertor to put in the frame.
Is this a solid set-up, or would I be better off with a proper BB30 crankset, or another adaptor to use with the GXP cranks? If so, why?
Thanks.

Should I space out my chainring on Mavic Starfish cranks or respace the axle to get my chainline straight (Mavic Starfish + Campa 115 mm (BB buy fail) + Novatech hub)? Any obvious reasons why not to space out the chainring (appart aesthetics)? I would like to skip the wheel redishing...

Hi all got a quick question. The cranks on my mash have some play in them. When i built it up there was none, but now there is at least a cm of movement before the chain catches if that makes any sense?
Do I need to remove the cranks and tighten the BB again? Its a Sugino 75 crankset with Campag Centaur BB.
-
• #673
Sounds like you need to tighten your chain.
-
• #674
Yes that has definitely slackened since I did it up so perhaps will try that first on the weekend, cheers.

Which Chris King BB fits omniums - MTB or ROAD version? ..and if any modifications needed? hard to find any proper info.. thank you
Does anyones know if its possible to narrow a Hollowtech BB so the chain line is 42.5mm?
