  • So what are you thoughts?

This is super. How is the ride compared with 700c? Any change in the handling?

I've moved to these wheels from Sputniks and Durano 25mm tyres (80/85psi).

The wheels feel like climbing wheels! They're light and have significantly less inertia. They spin-up quickly but don't hold speed. Climbing steeply is a dream. I'm running 50/60psi currently and traction is (as you would expect) just perfect. The tyres are slick so will have limitations off road.

Pedalling through patches of rough road (where before I'd be forced to back off) is nice. I'm quite light, so usually get thrown around a fair bit piling over rutted roads. Keeping a bit more control is going to be great on night rides in the wet. There is a lack of vibrations through the bike that I think will be good on all-day rides.

I have made other changes. I've gone from deep, traditional 40cm wide drop bars to wider 42cm compact bars so I can descend in the drops and cover the brakes. Add the plush tyres and it goes downhill really nicely. Descending is so chilled it maybe feels slower? I'll have to see how times compare.

The frame has always been pretty lively – which is why it's always handles best with longer stems and bigger tyres. With the bb sitting 10mm (IIRC) lower now there is slightly less trail again. It's totally stable at speed (better than ever with compact drops) but I've noticed it will 'wander' across the road if you're looking over your shoulder, messing around in your pockets, taking off a jacket etc.

    tl:dr

    yeah it's a better bike.
