Have just replaced chain and front chainring. I kept rear cog because it was fairly new. Drive is making terrible crunching sounds under pressure, which I'm sure is from rear cog.
Will it wear itself in and quieten down? Or am I needlessly wrecking my new chain and chainring, wearing them in to the old cog, and wasting money?
Guy at my LBS said it would wear in with time, but couldn't say which option was most economical in the long term- buying new 16t cog, or using old cog.
