  • You might get a little bored after while.

I think I will but I'm not sure that my fitness will ever get good enough to move into the training group. Although if it's a dry summer I suppose the track is open till October so maybe I will manage.

  • Enjoyable chat with Citizen Skully at the start of the session - before losing him as he leapfrogged the slower groups. Spotted a few others too.

Great weather for it. Booked my accreditation session for a week on Friday. Excited :)

  • As a fully accredited rider thought id come and demonstrate my quality. After the first 10km hanging off the back.. realised my road form was good for nothing on track.

Off the gym for 6 months of leg presses before I return.
    Ouch.

    Which session did you do?

  • 10 - 12 Intermediates.
Not sure if it was a particularly fast one, probably wasn't.
I don't recommend running a 5km Parkrun around brockwell just before either.

  • Just keep coming back and hanging in for a bit longer each time - your legs will sort themselves out

Freedom for Brockley! Nice pisstake, good to see you Branwen.

Shit I feel the same as tommy, only crapper as I was with the basic session... urg. Just gotta keep coming.

  • Hitting the track once a week probably won't be enough to build gains.
Thinking about the Monday night race training but worried that the pace will be even more fierce?

Whats the crack with monday night?
    Should I even consider it?

  • Monday nights are generally

    1. Paceline warm up
    2. Skills exercise
      3&4. Two different race types
    3. Skills exercise to warm down.

Well worth it in my view - as long as you are honest and stick in the euphemistically named 'less experienced group' you will get plenty of time on track and the pace isn't too brutal.

On saturday mornings keep going to inters. Hang into the pairs grouping and do the exercises for as long as possible. When your legs have given up all hope join the steady paceline that forms on the white line.

You will get up to speed in no time. What gearing are you running?

  • As its the first monday of the Month does that mean Madison trainning?
    I don't have a partner..

  • "There will still be a normal (non-madison) training group on madison training nights"

  • Tomorrow is not the first Monday of the month either.

  • You will get up to speed in no time. What gearing are you running?

Not sure... don't really do Math or Dates it seems.
If I can extricate myself out of work quick enough i'll be there with a boardman being lapped.

  • I'm going to head to tonights Inters - need to get some more miles in and last chance to go before I get round to doing the induction too.
I will be in the Slow group

  • Loved last monday nights session.

Its alot structured than general saturday training.
I found it easier to stick with the group as it wasn't constant stop / start.
Don't worry tho, I defended my DFL lfgss title to the end.

However there are two groups.. the experienced lads seemed to know what they're were doing = don't even think about joining it.

You also get a big breather inbetween the races, so can regroup if you get dropped.
    Nice to meet Mr Hingus

  • re doing my induction today
anyone else gonna be there ?

  • Can you just turn up for the induction? Or do you need to book these days?
I did one a long time ago, pretty sure that that won't count now.

  • did mine a few years back too, but don't want any chance of missing out on the lee valley velodrome lfgss track day so thought i'd renew get the paperwork and be 100% sure
i'll head down anyway if i can't get today i'll just book up for the next saturday available

  • That was my thinking too- re the lee valley thing.
    hmm... need to check plans.

  • Fuck I love track.

  • Track love I fuck

  • It was fun to ride in circles again.
Also lovely to see you Mr. Skullhead.

  • Fuck I love track.

    Track love I fuck

yup was nice out there today
first time in a long while ... to long
properly geared for the first time
instead of being out of breath my legs hurt
there must be a magical gear where you don't get out of breath and your legs don't hurt ... right ?

  • Experimented with Welwyn Velodrome today....should have known better.
