I logged 24 km during my induction over the course of an hour
I'm surprised it was that many. Maybe mine was slower but the pace seemed very quaint. It's definitely about smooth, safe riding rather than fitness.
I think it's very useful getting into "driving test" mode. Make it obvious when you're looking over your shoulder pulling off, looking to get on the back of a group, pulling off the track, etc., and very importantly swinging up the banking properly. (This was the only thing I remember anyone being called up on during the session, but only as a warning/advice.)
Also, if I wasn't sure about hand position I would err on the safe side and stay in the drops, particularly as it was a windy day for our one.
