Which Saddle?

  • like the fizik arione. very comfortable and best saddle that i have used. like that it is quite long so that you can move up and down the saddle at the back for when going up a hill and move to the front for when on the rivet.

  • All saddles will be uncomfortable if the bike fit is off. I was going through saddles until I got Adrian Timmis on the case - one bike fit, sorted.

Where is he based? Just reading Wide-eyed and legless

  • Does anyone knows a saddle shaped like a Concor but wider? Like +145mm. Thanks!

Old Concor? Maybe try a San Marco Regal.

  • SLR enthusiasts:

How do you get on with a) more modern SLR's with cutouts and stuff b) Specialised Romins?

  • velo orange model 5 is my favourite, like a brooks swift but much softer leather and with softer springs. Breaks in within weeks not years like a brooks

  • As much as I wished that the search for perfect saddle is over. Romin dissapointed me, but I think that is just me. the 143mm is tad bit too wide and rubs my inner legs, but Selle Italia Flite is 143mm and I get on with it quite well. And Romin Evo Expert is too hard for me without padded shorts and that's how I mostly ride my bike. Sitbones feel like sandpaper goes over them... Currently will use Flite for a while, but i still want something slimmer for Dosnoventa. Ideas?

  • I can't imagine there being much difference between the Romin and Evo in terms of padding, but is it worth trying it in 130 mm?

(I have a regular in 143 which is okay in bibs but a slight bit wide/sharp in jeans - but the 130 Evo is perfect)

  • went back to my romin today and had forgotten how awesome that channel is

  • I haven't realised how much I like having a cut out, until I rode the C17 without it.

Hurry up and released the cut-out version Brooks!

  • What's like a 155mm Romin but with a bit more padding?

Try an smp. I like the romin but it cant compare for me. If you can live with the looks / price and a bit of a settling in period its a great saddle. Id advice to get more padding than one normally use as you sit on far less contact patch.

I rode an SLR Gel Flow for quite a while after being a fan of the normal SLRs. Although I only stopped riding it because of crash damage I think I preferred the normal SLRs.

I'd rather take a hot iron to my Romin, the end result would be the same. I honestly can't fault the Romin for comfort, it's just the aesthetics I don't really like.

  • what has the same shape as a flite but with a central cut out?

  • Just got a cambium. I realised today that my Antares versus has the shittedt 'channel' in the world, so I'm going to give the brooks a go. Does feel like it'll be good though.

    An old Flite Gel Flow?

Definitely not the new Flite Flow. That's much flatter and flexier.

  • Anyone know where sells the new Selle italia Turbo in black suede?

Tried the sell italia flite max? This is the comfiest saddle, ever IMO...(been through so many following the path described by noisier) although, its not the best looker...and for some could almost be too soft.

Max SLR gel flow seems for now the perfect saddle for me. Gooch rub completely gone, light, looks good. Amazingly...and this has never happened with any other saddle...when I get on the bike the next day after a long ride, I don't wince initially! Saddle utopia...bought in white and black and looking no further.

  • any
    SLR Superflow
    SLR Tekno Flow
    SLR Gel Flow MAX
    Flite Gel Flow MAX
    SLC Gel Flow
owners/ users have photos of there saddle to bar drop?

  • 130mm SLR Superflow.

Can see the drop better here, but from when I had the Romin on. Romin was running on a layback post, SLR on inline, but BB to saddle top is exactly the same.

    pushing 3 scobles

  • cheers x

  • Does anyone know if there is much of a difference between all the different types of Romin? I've had a look on the specialized site but can't make much sense of it, I'm after something more for comfort than weight/speed

  • I have a standards, a Comp Gel and an Evo with a mix of steel, Ti and carbon rails, all in 143mm flavour. Can't tell the difference switching between any of them, even the Evo. I may have an undiscriminating arse though, ymmv.
