So the new gym (Flaxman Sports Centre) is entirely different to The Gym Group one I was going to. The Gym was about 80% cardio machines, 10% mats and 10% weights. Flaxman is about 80% weights, 10% cardio and 10% other random spaces (excluding the 2 squash courts and five aside space upstairs).
On first glance, it's quite intimidating. Low ceilings, old tatty looking weights and loads of properly hench blokes from the estate. Even though it was busy around 7pm this evening, it was actually much nicer working out there than in the shiny The Gym place. A couple of guys gave some advice on form and others actually welcomed sharing equipment rather than just ignoring me while sitting on a bench looking at their phone between sets.
They have some properly large dumbells there too and hundreds of plates (most of the machines are the lever and plate style rather than the pulley and stack type).
I only stayed for about 40min this evening as I haven't done any weights in months but with the size of the other guys in there I may have put more weight in the lifts than I ought to have done. I will probably find out tomorrow.
Oh, and I have yet to keel over from the old protein power, which was still bone dry.
