There are several studies that contradict that high level of protein. If you do the maths, muscles just aren't made of that much protein. Even if your primary goal is hypertrophy, you don't need that much. The excess just gets converted to glucose. The downside of this; it creates a more acidic environment and the body works harder to digest the excess. Although this isn't a big problem, it does have an effect on ones energy levels.
