does that include races and track sessions?
I'm on 433 + races and track sessions.
500 is definitely on track for 2014 in 2014. keep it up.
Everything. Sadly I don't have a track, would like to do speedwork on a track. Have to make do with marked out trails in parks at the moment.

Its beginning to help get my mojo back, and is definitely where the hare+hounds/hash idea came from. -

His previous book, Feet in the clouds, is only £1.79 for kindle on amazon. Picked it up last night, seems like a good read so far

^I just bought it too after balking at the ten quid price for the new one.
am enjoying reading all these kind of books though, perfect inspiration for the marathon, nice to know that people are out there suffering but getting on with it at much greater levels of challenge so you can tell yourself it's not as bad as you think it is when it gets tough. a nice shot of mental HTFU to call upon when needed.

First attempted double mara of the year this weekend up in beautiful scenic Wigan.
Day 1, smoothly running in 4th up to 20 miles, then wheels fell off quite spectacularly, and spent the last 6 bonking, being sick and barely moving forward. Mainly due to my outstanding preparation - hungover, not checking if the aid stations had any vegan food (nope) and wearing just a vest despite driving rain and hail (standards must be maintained). Still, held onto 6th, happy I had a good 20 miles, the rest will come back soon.
Day 2, knee went after 10 miles, so bailed at halfway and went to the pub. Good weekend.

^must try harder, htfu etc.
I got up at 5am on saturday morning to go and do my last 'long' run of training, figured I would get the 16 miles out of the way before stonehedge's stag do so I could have a few drinks instead of not drinking and then have to do the run on sunday.
It was absolutely beautiful running through richmond park at 6 am as the sun came up and I was surrounded by deer and squirrels, then it rapidly got just that little bit worse as humans began to appear and every one of them to a man(/woman) was a miserable joyless cunt. it might be early but there's no reason to be so dour faced and miserable particularly when it's bright, sunny (albeit a little chilly) and you're surrounded by some amazing natural beauty (myself included obvs). every smile or nod I gave was returned with a look like i'd just shit in their cereal. cheer the fuck up people.
only problem I had really with my run was I was on a tight schedule (I had a maximum window of 20 minutes to get changed and back out the door when I got home to get a lift to the stag do) so hadn't had a proper chance to clear the decks before leaving home so by mile 5 things had worked their way loose and I did almost the whole of richmond park trying to hold in my guts until the public loo's automatic doors opened at 7am (mere minutes before I arrived at the gate I was leaving the park by).
the run was slower than I'd intended, the early start and some tightness in my knee/achilles meant I couldn't push myself too hard so ended up about 20sec/mi off pace but was happy to just get the run done. skipped yesterdays run to recover from my epic hangover and may give today's a rest too as my knee was a little worrying and don't want to overdo anything this close to the marathon although i feel pretty much pain free now.

^ sensible to rest up, not long to go now.

i have 2x tempo (8:20 mile pace), 2x strength drills (8:10 mile pace) and 1x 10 miler (9:10 mile pace) left in terms of 'hard' training days left so the worst of it is behind me, now it's more about staying active and keeping the overall mileage going but reducing the overall intensity so my body can start to recover properly.
I think my knee tightened up because of the 10km last week, not the most stupid idea but not the most sensible either to include a tough fast run in the middle of some big training weeks where there's not much time to recover before the next big run. setting the new pb was a big motivational boost though so still glad I did it really.

You want to try running in Wigan - I like to nod a cheery hello to everyone I pass, but they're the surliest bunch of cunts you'll ever meet. Friendly northern salt of the earth types my skinny white ass.

Having lived there for 25 years I can confirm that's pretty much it, and it is [strike]slightly[/strike] totally ridiculous :(

This particular book doesn't have a set destination you know, it just sort-of goes where it feels like, getting lost in the post for the hell of it.

Double marathon.... nuts.
In Wigan.... !!!It's now three weeks until london marathon and I'm not sure when to start tapering. I kind of want to do another long run this weekend. Is this a silly idea?
