Arsebiscuits. Other stuff will keep me away from the ride, just as it did two years ago.

Is there going to be a secret call for lufgussers to identify each other?
If all goes to plan, I'll be on a Fuji Touring, gears and everything! -

The train can a quite reasonable way to return apparently, though nearest station is 5ish miles away from the beach and a small branch line. Alternatively you can trek back to Ipswich, 20 miles or so, which is on the mainline
-
• #137
Or there is the option of drinking so much that you can barely walk to the coach pickup.
-
• #138
Son (who is here somewhere is encouraging me to ride. Sounds like fun.

Darsham-Ipswich-London train was a nightmare last year. 30 bikes per carriage at Darsham (stacked to the ceiling) and then a backlog at Ipswich.. platform full of bikes and a guard who will only let half a dozen onto each train. After missing 3 trains I took a different service to Ely then down to Kings Cross. To Greater Anglia's credit they later refunded both my original fare and the second purchase to get home.
If you're going to train, either get to Ipswich early or very late. Avoid 10am-4pm IMO.

Last year I turned around at the beach and rode back to Ipswich starting at c. 5am, getting there at 7 and got on a train no problem - had the special bike carriage and everything. Those 30 miles were not pleasant in the rain though on the A12(?) - got that old school dual carriageway tester vibe though.

Nah, ride back.
Literally cannot get my head around doing that. Must be a mental/attitude thing, when I'm on that beach I want hot coffee, cold Mars Bars,
and no gremlins in the projection boothand a coat -

After the hell that was the coach last year, I'm definitely
considering riding backgetting the train back. I fell asleep for 90mins soon as I got on the bus, woke up, and we hadn't got out the carpark because someone had parked in front of the exit. -

-
• #144
That's a coincidence, I was going to wear one of those too.
-
• #145
The coaches back last year were more than a little trying. I wonder how much of that was down to it being foul on the beach and everyone waiting for the coaches just wanting to get out of there.
This year will either be a double or down to ipswich post-haste

Definitely interested in this... However, my shorts are not. Time to upgrade my 3 year old £5 sports direct attire.

No idea how to do this, logistically, but yes. In.

Happy to have a few visitors if I meet nice people on the ride.
List approved.
The last 30 miles feel like 100. The endless rolling twilight of the soul.
