just turn up with pretty much any bike from any era and any style but it must have down tube or bar end shifters, external cable routing on the handlebar brake levers and toestrap style pedals. these are the only essential bits. i've seen people ride 10 speed wheels and even modern ti frames but they passed the other rules so all good to go
they check your bike on the start line and won't stamp your card if the bike doesn't adhere to those rules
^This pretty much sums it up. There is a point at the start line where the queue goes down to singleish file and everyone passes past a stamper that will check the points above.
I didn't make the ballot - I can't remember them having too much infrastructure to catch rogues (and hence the fs mtb's that passed me) tho not sure if it's a bit shitty doing it that way? I can certainly live without the pasta/bottle opener (was it?!)
I stayed at the MyOne Radda in Chianti which was perfectly good (though this year (due to) staying at somewhere a bit closer/cheaper.
