plastic vs aluminum

Used my AeroPress upside-down for the first time yesterday. Seems to make more sense than 'right way up' tbh.

Yeah, I started doing that couple of weeks ago. Can't tell any dif on taste, possibly a bit more fiddly but I prefer it. Not sure why.

or did WP mean:
Alzheimer's + plastic vs Alzheimer's + aluminum
-

Never mind plastic vs aluminium, just made a brew with it and it was incredible. So clean.
I'm using yirgacheffe beans from hasbean. -

yirgacheffe seems to work well in the aeropress.

Just got an AeroPress. All the stuff about stovetops and Alzheimer's really put me off using the bialetti four times a day...
Bit late as it has already affected you :P

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right place to post, but I've had the week off work to help my friend open his new coffee shop. It's just opposite mornington crescent tube station, and is a specialist coffee bar. He is offering single origin V60 pour overs and syphons, and an ozone blended espresso.
He just opened today, and is keen to make a success of it, his prices are really good and he's always open to suggestion from connoisseurs such as yourselves!
Hopefully if you guys like it we can sort out some lfgss discounts or a late night opening as the start of a night ride or something!
Cheers, will x

The alu vs plastic thing - way more studies connecting plastic (especially heated plastic) to health issues than the one or two that purported to connect aluminum to Alzheimer's.

Same.
Doing it the 'normal' way around did always results in some leakage of unbrewed water / coffee in the time between putting the water in the chamber and getting the plunger in to get the vacuum effect, which the inverted method doesn't... so I guess that's one benefit.
I am getting annoyed with having to explain WTF I'm doing in the kitchen at work though.

Got a electric grinder at work finally!
Where did you find a five sided socket? I've been looking for one of these for ages (to do the same thing).

Never has a sentence resonated more with me. "Oh you're having a Posh Coffee! How fancy"
...Actually - I have beans, ground, and have put water on top. What you're drinking is a mechanically extracted, chemically processed, freeze dried 'coffee', thats been through about 10 different factories before reaching you. What's more posh?

Same.

A hard stare and "drugs" is my normal answer.

What's that powered coffee in a silver tin with an orange top? I was given a coffee on a shoot recently from that, and it wasn't completely shit.

Milicano?
-
• #9420
It's the Nescafe Milicano - Azera.
From their website....
"We all love barista style coffee. The intense aroma. The enticing look. The roasted coffee taste. Now you can enjoy all of that pleasure in the ease of an instant. Genius. A tip from our barista: Why not try two spoonfuls for a double shot."
Jesus.

It's just the chuck gripping directly onto the pentagon.
I've also tried to find a five sided socket to no avail. The only solution I can think of is getting to know someone with a 3D Printer to make one.
Do we know of anyone with a 3D printer?

Gaggia factory 106 update- got the base off, the pressure stat unit had come apart, leading to the observed thermal excursion AKA heating until it reached 4 bar and blew the pressure relief valve.
In the very centre of the base of the pressure vessel, from the underneath, there is a junction of wires- live in/neutral out.
Under a plastic cover here is the reset- a little red pin that pops out when the unit gets too hot- to reset, push this back in, and replace the cover.
My machine now turns the elements on, which is good.
However, the act of venting the excess pressure to atmosphere has been too much for the pressure release valve- although having stripped it I can't really see what's gone wrong.
But it looks like I need a new one- unless anyone's GoogleFu is superior to mind and can find a guide to servicing the valve?

If I am going to spend £150 to £200 on espresso machine where/what should I be looking for?
Noob question I know.
