• Quite like this, but spacers and saddlebag can >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I really don't understand seatpacks, they're approximately the size of your pockets and make your bike look crap.
if you put tools in them they rattle on bumpy roads and make your bike sound crap too....
Proper saddlebags I do understand - they're big enough for kendal mintcake, emergency bicycle clips, a sou'wester, a copy of the 1949 CTC guide to taverns etc, but seat-packs - wtf?

Except that carrying your tools, spare tubes, canisters et al is a faff - they swing around, they're heavy, they're annoying. I've got a lovely Arundel Dual on my road bike, it's absolutely solid and absolutely silent. Doesn't even rattle over speed bumps. It also means that I can just grab a jersey and go, rather than having to find all my tools and put them in my pockets.

Maybe this is because I like being prepared as hell, so I might carry a bit more than most people, but I would far, far rather have a saddle pack than all my crap in my pockets.
