I also used some of this stuff on my SL01. Although it's a bit of an arse trying to cram the seatpost in with an extra couple of mm of film around it, It does work.
It's ultimately the reason why I sold my BMC though. I just couldn't be bothered with the hassle, especially if I had to disassemble the bike to transport in the car, bike box, etc.
edit - I also sold it because of the internal cable routing. That was such a ballache to sort out!
