Yeah, I run 48/31 x 11-40 with GRX 800. Rear derailleur needed the clutch backing off a touch, but it runs well now. With 650B wheels that gets me 21 gear inches. Bikepacking in Scotland, init.

Did Rapha change the fit of the Brevet Insulated Jacket? I swear it used to be a classic fit, but the newer ones look more like Pro team and the fit on the site suggests the same. I bought one second hand in the same size as my existing insulated gilet and it was way too tight across the chest.

I’d like to switch my wife’s commuter bike to dynamo lights. I’m looking for a 700C disc brake QR dynamo front wheel or wheelset. Doesn’t need to be anything special. Ideally not too narrow, so it can take 35/37C tires.

Would love some more lifecycle instructions from Albion for each bit of kit. e.g. what reproofer is best, how frequently? What about for folks without a tumble dryer? Should I avoid wearing a backpack? All those questions.

We picked up one of these from our local Edinburgh dealer at the end of August. It's been really great. Rides more like a 'proper' bike than the Tern and still gets two bigger kids on the back. It's nicely specced for the price too.

I think we can all agree suspension is expensive complexity (regular service intervals, expensive to repair), the question is whether it’s worth it for the rider. My experience riding up to three kids around the cobbled hills of Edinburgh is no, the kids just want a cushion.

New whip! A Veloe Multi with Shimano EP8, Enviolo HD and carbon drive. Room for two on the back. The ‘load space’ accessory converts between seating area and cargo space with a foldable velcro cover. I wanted a long tail that was suitable for sharing between two 6ft riders and this does the trick and rides like a normal bike.

I’m thinking of shifting my 58cm Kepler with the galaxy paint job (black with blue/pink speckles - is lovely). It’s the canti version, before these so called “disc brakes”. Currently set up as a fast tourer with Campag 2x 10s but might split and sell the frame/fork. Any interest?

We’ve got one of these on the way. Sold our Babboe long john now the kids have grown out of it and we want something a bit nimbler. Did a test ride on Saturday with the dealer in Edinburgh and it worked well with two kids (5 and 8) on the back. Getting it with the EP8 and Enviolo HD for the hills around here.

Any thoughts on the Nexus 5E hub for a Veloe Multi long tail? The other options are the Eviolo TR/HD (I never liked the twist grip on my last Enviolo hub, which made my wrist hurt shifting through the range) or Deore 10 speed (more maintenance, etc).

The Nexus looks decent, but doesn’t have a massive range (268%), and I live in Edinburgh with 2 kids to haul up cobbled hills. But maybe coupled with an EP8 the absolute range matters less?

Got some bikepacking in Scotland coming up. Need a new rain jacket and the Zoa rain shell looks like it might work well. Especially keen on the hood. How does it handle warmer wet days? Is it a sweat fest? By warmer I mean 12-18C, not actually warm.

I tried the All Road rain jacket on in Condor the other week and even up a size from my usual Rapha size it was a bit more 'race fit' than I was looking for.

Yeah, I think the R&M range looks fine for our needs. We live in Edinburgh, but I think in bad weather we'd just dress them up. The R&M bench seat with side bars looks like it'd be fine.

Anyone got any hot takes on the R&M Multitinker? We’re thinking of shifting our Babboe City Mountain now the kids are getting bigger and I reckon it’s that or a Tern GSD. Want to be able to carry 2 out of 3 kids (5, 8, 10), shopping and handle the occasional oddly shaped thing strapped to the back.
