Hi all, thought I would share my latest project, I bought this Giant Frame of eBay for £50, it was a bit scratched up and Pink , yes pink!! So I made the decision to go for the raw aluminium look. This soon became more of a job than I thought, I tried high strength paint stripper, didn't really touch it, ended up spending a whole week of evenings scraping and sanding to remove the paint, even wet and dried the carbon forks, turns out they were Time forks (really nice) I clear coated these with new decals, turned out great. I am really happy with the way the frame turned out and its really light to :)
Finish the build with Campag Kamsin wheels, Time mono link stem, deda zero bars, Campag groupset, Time carbon seatpost with carbon saddle, all topped of with hope skewers, headset seat clamp and spacers, Time Pedals. It is a 60cm frame and it came in at 7.4kg. I am really happy with the way it turned out and it rides really nice.So what do you all think?

Oh and also, its not a Mercian, the number is wrong, all Mercian's have a 6 0r 7 digit number. eg my 1983 Mercian has the number 240383. Meaning it was frame number 24 in March 1983. I have owned mant Mercians and work next door to the factory for many years, used to have my lunch with the builders.

Thanks, yes I agree about the saddle, I would like a 50's brooks, I will keep looking for the right one :) I have a period seatpost ready to go on and I would like a allez stem (original holdsworth ) but they dont turn up that often. I want a bike I can ride, not a show piece, I think bike should be ridden otherwise its a waste of the frame builders time.

Hi anidel, Sorry i have been busy at work, yes the project is coming along. I have added a back brake, after a near miss on a test ride ! the new levers are now on and I have found a lovely set of 1950 Phillips philite pedals with a set of clips and original red leather straps. ( blow the knee ) I am still looking for a good period stem and I still need to clean up the seat post I have. I will take some more photos when I get a moment. The frame is really something special, the lugs are finished really nice, they even compete with my Mercian's and the rear stays are so slender. It really rides well to, very bright and lively for at frame that is 62 years old.
