Taking the plunge, have picked up some used Spyres along with some ultegra shifters and mechs (modernising to 11speed)! Will get some good pads and some compressionless cables
I've been convinced by a friend that dyanmos are the way to go, ordering these:

The key for me is being able to stick my backpack on whatever I get. Any front rack recommendations that would allow this?

I'll need to buy wheels either way as I've donated the ones from the roadie to my wife who had hers stolen yesterday! So the cost differential is I can keep going with my now quite old 10 speed gear or I can get new shifters that do discs. Are Vs an option with drops? I much prefer riding drops so plan to keen them going.
Re-front rack... I really like the look, but how do they compare to a rear rack for ease of riding, carrying capacity etc?

I've been commuting on my old (but still fairly nice) road bike. I've decided though that as a commuter it's not cutting it... I want mudguards and to stop having a sweaty back so am moving to something more commuting specific.
I picked up a BLB hitchhiker frameset which I'm pretty pleased with. I'm now debating whether to build it up with rim brakes (cheap as I have lots of stuff I can transfer from my road bike) or hydro brakes.
I'm then planning to do 28mm ish tan walled tyres, back rack with a milk crate or similar to chuck a bag in and mudguards.
Any top tips on parts I should go for or opinions on the disc Vs rim brake debate?

Selling my Fixie as I can no longer store it in my flat.
It is a really beautiful Gazelle Champion Mondial frame in Reynolds 531 with a matching chromed fork. The frame is in great shape for its age and is not done justice by the photos! It measures about 61cm C-T (seat tube) and 56.5cm C-C (top tube).
It's built up with a set of Mavic Ellipse wheels which have had very little use and run true. The rear wheel has never seen a brake.
It has SRAM GXP track cranks, Nitto Technomic stem, profile designs air wing bullhorns, Sora long drop brake, ritchey seatpost. I have put on an old pair of pedals so that it is ready to ride.
Overall it is in great condition and I wouldn't sell if I had the space for it. In the medium term it will be worth changing the brake pads, cable and handlebar tape as these came off a previous build and are well worn. These are simple, cheap changes and not necessary before riding it.
Price reduced to £320 (from £350) It can be collected from Brixton.
