Bar tape had been fucked by the little shites who nicked it a few months back. Will probably get round to replacing it at some point.

It’s probably done minimum 25, 000 miles, and possibly>30. Sensitive to proper set up - good cable run and careful adjustment. It’s had a service every year - oil bath and re-grease. Other than that it gets left outside all the time and just works. Would buy another... It’s the SG-S501, but think the design has changed since then.

Have a look at Specialized Dry-Tech fenders - fitted to my Genesis after I recovered it. The PDWs that has been on there had been ripped off by the oiks who nicked it. I think the new ones are at least as good.

The school have been pretty on it... Apparently the delivery firm are looking at getting the power supply upgraded so they can run electric vehicles. Presumably vans. Not perfect, but fingers crossed.

Planning on riding Fort William to Inverness over a couple of days with kids. Has anyone taken the ‘South Loch Ness Trail’? Trying to work out how off-road it is, and whether to take trailer.

It was microshift, but the issue I had wasn’t with the shifter (which had a very positive action) the issue I had was with the cable carrier on the hub not returning when shifting to bigger gears (opposite action from old Alfine 8sp). I’m certain my fault was at the hub end, but whether just that particular hub, or the model more generally, I don’t know.

I took mine back several times, but eventually ended up changing it for the D3. The Alfine hub was problematic, although I’m not sure whether it was just that hub, or a cable issue, or a general issue with the new version of the Alfine 8 hub. Was a shame cos it’s well spec’ed and was a nice ride. T

^sorry to hear this. It really is worth keeping eyes peeled... last week I recovered my Genesis from an oik who was riding it by Whittington hospital ( had been stolen 6 weeks earlier in Tufnell Park).
