Is anyone signed up to come to the heritage crafts association "exploratory meeting" on brazed bicycle frames? It's tomorrow evening.
It's due to the heritage crafts association putting brazed bicycle building into the endangered crafts list.
Email info as below:
Dear frame builders,
We are looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday evening at 7pm. There has been a fantastic response to this meeting and we are expecting this to be a useful discussion. I will resend the zoom link again just ahead of the meeting on Thursday to make sure that you all have it at the top of your inboxes.
Please can you spare a few minutes to fill in a quick signing up form. This is just to gauge your interest and doesn't commit you to anything at this stage. All of this information will be treated as strictly confidential and will not be shared or used for any other purposes outside of this group.
Please complete the signing up form here: https://forms.gle/UTZcTkAuKEZhdwAF7
Thank you,

Be aware that lasercut tolerances are usually a combination of two tolerances. For example it's common for the tolerance of +-0.2mm to be quoted, this for example could be made up of a +-0.1mm positional tolerance and +-0.1mm profile tolerance.
As you go to thicker material the profile tolerance will get larger as this is the edge profile of the edge that the laser is effectively burning away.
While the positional tolerance will not change as this is the tolerance that the cnc lasercutter can hold while running on it's leadscrews.
Best bet for something where accuracy is desired is to get some test cuts of your chosen thickness rather than relying on the stated lasercutters numbers.
Testcuts including both hole diameter and slot width.

Head tramming on a round column mill can be done with a little mod and not much effort.
Mount a laser to the spindle of the mill. Mark the laserdot location on the opposite wall. Raise the head, lower the end spindle and then match the head orientation by getting the laserdot to the same location on the opposite wall.
It's really accurate due to the fact that you're measuring an angle over the length of the room.
It was a hot tip I got from Armour custom cycles

Hi Phil H :),
What Fish says. I've ALREADY DONE THE CAD and can get you a lasercut table in any size you want for a fraction of the price of one of the bought ones. I want to order one myself and the more you order the cheaper they get. Hit me up.
Re: Medical oxygen concentrators
Andy Armour suggests 7lpm. Be aware of the chinese ebay jobbies that are listed as 0.5-7lpm or similar. Quite often on these the amount of oxygen goes down significantly as the flow of gas goes up. i.e there are junk ones that are to be avoided, beware!Re: Multijet tips
This is the way to go and was a gamechanger due to the flame stability when brazing. Avoid using acetylene tips, these don't have a countersink and the flame will extiniguish itself in use (a pain in the butthole). Propane tips work well, but are still not as good as a multijet tip. Multijet for life.Re: Propane in use.
1) propane doesn't burn as hot.
2) the highest BTU of heat happens further down the flame, it is NOT the hottest point of the flame at the end of the cone. If you braze like you're brazing with acetylene you will make ugly blobby brazes. Because you'll be brazing with a wider part of the flame the technique to use is to flick the flame on and off the joint for heat control and to work FAST! Keep the braze right on the edge of the liquidus at all points.I swear I've seen a video of Tom Ritchey brazing with a rosebud tip on his acetylene rig. That's the technique you want even if it's a different gas being used.

My brompton was stolen if anyone spots it for sale
It's a mishmash of used parts from various bromptons (I work for brompton so have access to goodies), crucially has a newer headtube welded on so that it can accept T-line parts.
If spotted it would be good to get it back there ISN't another one like it.
T-line fork, with pink and blue geometric shapes painted all over it.
Blue Son XS dynamo
Lightup LED Dynamo roller wheels
56tooth Carbon Crankset
Singlespeed
Wee brass headtube badge showing a UFO beaming up a bicycle.Bike thieves are the worst of people!
