Both methods work in tandem. You kkow your stress reliving is complete when you side load the rim when the wheel is resting on its axle and it does not budge. Bit ues joshs method works well. Although i find grasping just two spokes (oppoite each other) is more effective as i can apply a higher load. I get to the end point a bit quicker.

Progress today. It rides. B17 select saddle fitted brooks leather bar tape on, TA chainset from the 60's a modern cog and KMC chain. The BB is Shimano shock horror. I would have liked to use a williams chainset but good ones are real money and then finding the right BB is a hassle.
the brake however work as well as a chocolate teapot. Cable pull appears to be incompatable as the levers come back to the bars and I hardly slow down. My legs are a better brake. So some work needed here. It rides nicely though and I will ride it home when I have got a new set of hoods and got the brakes sorted. Only taken a year to get this far it may take another to finish properly.
Also the saddle is paler than I thought and the bar tape darker. I may have to dye the saddle to rectify this.

My Trek 8900 compositie. I have a bit of a fetish for 90's bikes especially bonded frames. Carbon tubes bonded into alloy or steel is a bit special to me. This Trek has an XTR M950/1 groupset including BB, brakes, cassette. The chain however is KMC. The seat post is PMP titanium and the bars and stem are Icon Graphite. Pace RC31 forks I weighs 9.5kg but is not finished yet. I have a set of grey Wobler 26" tubular rims and some period Vittoria tubulars, a couple of Geax tubular and some schwable racing ralph tubs too. At some point I will start riding it again.

It is about time i took somd resonable photos of all my bikes if only for insurance purposes. Over the next few weeks i will clean all 17 of them and try to take photos that are not rubbish. I will fail of course.
Here is the latest bike. I did not need it but i had all the parts sittkng in a box or hanging up doing nothing and then a forum member posted this Look Kg221 and we did a deal for the bike a dura ace seatpost, Mirage headset, for a pair of wheels built up onto hubs he spplied.
Unfortunatley the chorus chainset fotted would not come off and had to be destroyed and give how close these get to the frame the record bb did not survive either. This was a shame. Still happy with it.
Look kg221 with 32F/32R Mavic Gel 280 rims on Novatec A171/F172 Hubs, Vittoria Corsa SC tubular tyres, shimano rx100/rsx sti's groupset, modolo quill stem, Campagnolo mirage headset, 3TTT forma bars and a Sella Italia Flite saddle. Weight 9.11kg.

As i wont ge on a tt bike again these rather nice wheels i built for myself are for sale.
88mm deep carbon tubular rims (24h rims with electrical tape covering every other hole).
20.5mm wide
12 spoke front and rear.
Silver sapim cx ray spokes and alloy nipples
Shimano Dura Ace 7700 12h slotted hubs.
Correct skewers.
The cassette pictured is not for sale.
2x continental gp400os II 22mm tubular tyres.I have done a few hundred miles in them. Tubs show little wear and the wheels are straight and true.
Given the condition and spec i would like £350 for them. I can ship for £15 mainland u.k and £25 e.u
I go by the above line also but many do it without issue. The NDS is under lower tension so cracking is actually a very low risk. If the tensions on the NDS are very even then distortion should not be an issue.
