Very boring thread here sorry, but I'm getting my first set of clipless pedals and after browsing the market it seems these Shimano and Exustar pedals are the best value entry level pedals out there atm. Both pedals and cleats, and they are about the same price when postage is included.

Exustar: http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/PEEXPR16/exustar-clipless-e-pr16-pedals-including-cleats-compatible-with-look-keo-system?source=affwin&awc=6502_1469910291_9d1930a98ac216cf3917d77a916718ab&utm_source=affiliatewindowWas just wondering which people thought were the best bet?

Doing a geared road bike build and in need of a pair of cycling shoes in around size 9 and a set of clipless pedals. On a real budget at the moment, just want a stop gap to get riding with, so ideally would like to be spending 10 quid or less on each- obviously not expecting much for that price. I'm not in London for uni holidays, so I would require postage. Cheers.

sorry I have literally no idea what was going through my head when I wrote my post, I pretty much missed of the most important criteria. Basically I wanted this raleigh for a ss conversion, so ideally I wanted a frame or a relatively run down or at least mis-matched full bike, because I feel it would be a bit of a crime/waste of money to strip anything down too immaculate, which I have to say that Record Sprint probably looks. It is a really lovely bike though, out of curiousity how much were you looking for it?

Hi,
Was hoping someone could help me identify a Raleigh model I've been offered. Only saw it briefly yesterday and unfortunately forgot to take any photos or note down a serial number, so I realise this is pretty vague! It's not a model i've seen before and it doesn't seem to fit into any of the obvious categories - super course, competiton, grand prix etc. Stylistically it's quite similar to the red/yellow/black professional- has basically the same raleigh logo on the down tube, has the same ti logo on the forks (so I guess it's later than 1960), has half-chromed forks and stays, is 531 tubed and says club sport on the top tube. The main colour is white with yellow headtube and writing and red trim. I think it has cottered cranks as well. Hopefully that terrible description makes some sense to someone. Cheers -
After a 531 bike/frame 70s/80s bike that indulges my fetish for chromed tubes, for a single speed conversion. After either a bike or just a frame with half-chromed forks and half-chromed rear stays. Don't have many particulars in terms of the frame- i'm very shallow! Would ideally prefer an English frame and would love a Raleigh if ones going. Size 53 - 56. Something like a raleigh competition would be perfect. Cheers

couple with more questions and then I will really leave you guys in peace from my ignorance! 1) probably nothing but it'something I've never come across, in the picture I've included there appears to be something in the rear dropout, maybe part of the derailleur or it's removal as it has a screw but the way that it appears it seems it would block me from pulling the wheel back into the dropout and achieving chain tension 2) my original intention had be to ride 48/16 but now probably going to keep the front 52 cog and ride 18 at the back. sorry if this is painfully obvious, but despite them being comparable ratios are there are any implications for riding a bigger cog at the front (i know it's only minor), for example maybe for rear wheel skidding? apologies for dragging you lot back into single speed 101 with me...

cheers for the advice. Yeh these will be predominantly used for commuting so they will see a fair amount of clipping in/out, so I'll defo look in to that.
