I've recently discovered MKS rmx pedals, they're cheap and great for city bikes and pootling. Not a huge mtb platform but much more comfy than Sylvans or similar

The pro skate vans slips last much longer.
Other brands make skate slip-ons as well (nike, NB, adidas) but I haven't tried them. Loved state shoes slip-ons but they went bust.
