Depends on the van massively. The right ones at the right money have never really done much depreciating. Stick to VW, Westfalia, Reimo, Danbury, Bilbo's etc. and you'll probably do alright. Ex-builders vans with big miles and homebrew conversions are best avoided. The more classic stuff has definitely taken a hit recently, but it can be hard to judge as condition varies a lot. They can also swallow money very easily in upkeep. I speak from experience...

Probably quite stupid, but life is for living and you'll never remember the time you stayed home and didn't road trip a DS to France.
It's an old Citroen in Scotland, so rust is the main concern. Don't buy a rotten one unless it's very cheap.
I bought a CX in Glasgow and took it back home to Brighton. 10/10 great trip and a wonderful car. It was definitely a bit crusty though!

Oooh, very lovely. Shame things like that used to feel obtainable and are now the preserve of people who pop them in the corner of their massive garage to gather dust.
I agree that a nice SE spec E39 530i is a lovely thing, but I'd sooner buy one for £3k, refresh it for £2k and not lose £10k in depreciation.
I bought a 525i E61 as a daily estate but it just added to my BMW problems, so I bought an insignia that I don't care about, which was definitely the right move.

If it was an unrepeatable Individual spec then I could see it , but a silver over grey cloth car with a basic spec that would lose half its value the moment you put a few miles on it or scuffed up the interior does not appeal. No doubt you'd still be into a cooling system simply due to age.
A manual B10 3.3 with loads of miles on the clock for me please.

They drive fine, if you're the sort of person who thinks a Touran is significantly better to drive or be in, then I think you're too fussy. If I was doing 20k miles a year I probably wouldn't buy one, but as practical transport that has endless space, is tough as anything and won't throw big bills at you they're very hard to beat.
I don't fetishise them. i don't own one, I just know that when I've steered people into them I've always been glad I did, they are simple cars that do a job and do it well, which is what everyone who isn't into cars and doesn't want to spend much ought to be looking for. I would never recommend anyone bought a 10+ year old Touran, VAG stuff just isn't built to last.

Looking for a carbon 25.4mm seatpost. I don't want an Aliexpress special, needs to be min 250mm, but ideally longer.
Cheers.
