Hi, has anyone bought a baselayer from Embers merino before? Seem like a small British based comany.
Wondering about the quality of their clothing. -
Hubjub have the Aarn ones. 70 quid new. Which is a lot of money.
Just decide if you think it will fit your build. Personally I think it might, but I like understated so would go with something else. -
Your cranks need to take a chainring of 144bcd. Think the miche ones are 135 so will not fit if so.
I'd see if you could fine a used sugino 75 or dura ace one. They are perfectly round and look classy.
Aarn / factory 5 look tacky to me although seem to be good chainrings. Also seem to be on every single mash parallax on pedalroom -

I've got a Charge Duster SS and am thinking of experimenting and converting it to fixed gear.
It has vertical dropouts and therefore uses an EBB.
Is it possible to ride fixed using this setup? Or would it be the case of changing the dropouts to horizontal and losing the disc brakes?
Quite like the idea of a fixed mountain bike.
I've had it sitting there for 2 yrs but dont wanna sell it as it was the first 'new' bike I bought with my own money. Time to put it to use. -
How it looks finished. It would look better if lever was compact, hanging nearing to the bar I think. But happy with position. Took it out earlier, was nice / reassuring to have lever at fingertips during fast descents riding in drops. Easy to reach from hooks too.
Might look for a prettier lever. The tekro was an experiment. -
Its all personal preference in the end. There's hundreds of both out there to say one is better that the other is pointless.
I've got steel. Never ridden aluminium (not for any reason). -

Gonna stick with it for a bit first, switch to NDS and see if I get used to it. -

Yeah, done that now. Taped up bars too. That was just a pic i posted once I'd fitted everything and took it out for a spin.

I posted a pic in case anyones interested. Its a tekro rx4.1 lever on nitto b125's. Works fine.
Not the most elegant of solutions maybe but practical for me.
Just gotta tape up bars.
Opinions pls if u have any... -
Not too expensive as they (mine) always get covered in bike grease if I have to do some maintainence on the road.
Kinda agree with one of the comments about Vulpine and the colours. Stuff a bit more understated and colours that wont date.
And ventile. I like ventile. -
