I had one of those moments this week, started with new bar tape, ended up with new saddle, seatpost, stem and two rapha jerseys for good measure. No regrets especially after riding today with the new bling. I'm sure you won't regret the aeroroad, personally I love the Katusha Di2 red model, much nicer than the black!,

@Bezzin Thanks mate! Tried it on at home with the bibs and it's just right, nice and snug as well. Thanks again!

I mean their bike policy about the mandatory reservations only kicked in on Monday, could try and get away with it I suppose. Will have to see.
@umop3pisdn Yeah even at 3 it's manic, can't even get a seat usually.

A friend at my club ride has Enve 3.4(?) clinchers laced to Chris kings. That's about £2500 worth of wheel, I mean 10/10 in the bling department but it sounds like you're being chased by an angry strimmer/hive of bees if he's ever on your wheel. Though nothing beats the sound of a Zipp at high speed, must be the dimples.
As for the cracks, that is so unfortunate, should be renamed the "Unfortunate Series of Events Magnet"

Did it crack in two separate places? That's a bit terrifying! Read your earlier post about the wide rim wheels being super awesome. I had the pleasure of riding some 45mm deep, 25mm wide rim carbon clinchers last week and they were super comfy with Scwalbe ones. Saying that I just got some 23mm tubulars and on a smooth stretch of tarmac they are like butter.
On a side note the new CF SLX in Grey with the aero cockpit is pure porn!

I live and ride in Marlborough and haven't heard about this, though have done a few of the climbs around Aldbourne. It's definitely good fun, and if you had time the village down the road (Ramsbury) has a pretty steep climb aswell Spring Hill. You could also cycle over to Avebury (Stonehenge 2.0) and back up to Swindon. There are also train connections in Bedwyn and Pewsey if you get desperate. Good Luck!

Schwalbe Ones came today, went for the 26 over 24, as I have been running 25s on my clinchers which have been pretty good on the country roads. Weren't too much of a pain to mount, though required myself and another person to get them on as thy kept on slipping off as I was trying to get them over the rim.
Currently riding some 40 carbon clinchers as a demo whilst my tubs are being set, they have the Ones mounted and they are superb, looking forward to riding the tubulars

Group rides definitely break up the monotony and I always push myself harder than solo riding. I think the biggest difficulty is finding a group suited to your ability, preferred riding speed etc. Our small country town club is about 10-20 permanent members , and ride at about 32kph with stronger and weaker riders within that spectrum. But the speed of the group is completely off-putting to newcomers to group riding, (though it's not really suited for beginners.) So finding a group ride that suits your personal riding ability is also a must.

Anyone lost a BLB La Piviora? Advert seems a little strange http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carbon-Road-Bike-For-Sale-/232016212771?hash=item36053e7323:g:DNQAAOSwaB5Xi73H
