After asking on here and various other forums I finally managed to get hold of an MX leader through a European source. I have looked at the CADRE site and it looks like it is probably 1996 to 1997 due to the F on the BB, there is also a P denoting a professional frame (does that mean it was ridden by a pro at some point, despite no number hanger, as it isn't a Merckx professional frameset??).
However, it has the small Eddy and large Merckx lettering indicitive of the later (2000s) frames. It is also in a colour scheme I have never seen before, it is quite reminisant of the Podio shoes they brought out in 1994. Anyone have any more info??
Another thing is that the headtube merckx label is a sticker, not paint as on my OS Strada. It is definately an MX leader, the tubing is ridiculous, it tapers down to the BB and also from the top tube into the headtube, can't wait to get it built up with the 9 speed record titanium groupset I have and see how it rides!

Thanks but seriously, I'm OK waiting for the right one. Shorter stems = twitchier steering anyhow.
Meanwhile, they keep popping up! At an expensive price mind....

Hello all
I'm a 6'3" guy who is pretty normally weighted (i.e. no Bradley Wiggins) and I'm on the look out for a high end steel Merckx frame in 60cm.
Issue I have is that as a larger rider I am a bit concerned about frame flex around the BB which happens on a 531c build up I have.
I currently have a Merckx Strada OS which is a great ride (sorry make that GREAT ride) but as I have just aquired a 9 speed record titanium groupset in excellent condition (were talking 300 miles tops maybe) I would like to match it with a similarly top end mid to late 90s Merckx frame.
Have been on the look out for an MX Leader F&F but they are overpriced or not my size on ebay and nothing turned up on these forums despite a post in the wanted section.
Just wondering what my other options are? Corsa 01? SLX? SL? Or do I just wait for that elusive Leader frame?
Any advice would be much appreciated

Bit of a long shot. Considering building one up as a long term project with campag 9 speed titanium grouspet. Ideally after a late 90s model to match teh grouspet but would take an early 90s perhaps if in good condition.
60cm refers to the top tube!
PM if you have anything please
Have tried retrobike with no luck

Didn't you see this before you bought it? Try problem solvers they may have something. I think SJS cycles stock their stuff

Don't ride it without covering them or you may get water/salt etc in there and get internal corrosion
