This is crazy but I know the cyclist involved and the bike as it used to be mine (blue Raleigh Arena). The rider involved purchased it off me and I only found out about the crash when he messaged me about a week ago wanting a receipt as he had a crash and could claim the price of the bike back if he had one.
I saw some pictures of the crash and needless to say was shocked to hear it had happened to him and also to see a picture of my ex bike completely flattened on the Evening Standard.
Basically the rider collided with a HGV had life threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital but thankfully has now made a full recovery!
My condolences to all those who have died on the roads and their families...

Hi guys, I'm new to this site. It looks great and I would just like to say hello and introduce myself. My names Al I've been fixing and riding bikes for ages and I love taking on new projects. Once I finish them I usually sell them on and start another so I should usually have a bike or two up for sale.
Also if you are looking for parts I may have some to sell / trade with you. Anything bike related I'm usually interested and I'm usually on the look out for fixed gear / single speed wheel sets so please let me know if you have anything I might be interested in or vice versa.
Thanks, have a nice day.
I don't know too much about how the accident happened and didn't want to ask him too much about it as he had been through enough but I think that's how it happened. HGV turning left and the cyclist was probably caught in its blind spot. I think the damage to the bike seems to fit this sort of crash too.
Yeah I know I'm really glad we didn't have another fatality it could have been so much worse. I'm very surprised and of course relieved that he made a full recovery and had no lasting injuries as by the sound of things it was a very severe crash.
