But why do designers persist with integrated locking devices, useless cable locks and exotic materials? Removing quick release handlebars that function as a lock is going to be no less hassle than using a D-lock. And rubber bristle "mudguards" - yeah I'm sure that will keep your arse dry.

integrated locking system is a requirement of the competition. i don't know what they're on about with the toothbrush fender, but they are concept bikes after all. most of them are made out of basic materials too.

Still waitin on the wheelset (got some Paselas as well), but it feels good to finally ride for enjoyment rather than transport. Also really enjoying the benefits of clipless. Really feelin it in the calves.

Pretty sure my Cannondale was 130mm spacing originally.

I have a 3.0 from 92 with 126 spacing so I was basing my assumption off that. makes sense that a more modern bike is designed for more modern components.

was just given this trek 600. got some serious rust particularly along the lugs at the bb shell. will spraying it with frame saver be good or should i sand it and do a little paint touch-up beforehand?
