H&F Council have installed MASSIVE speedbumps on the cycle lane through bishop's park. This has given me commute depression, as I usually cut through there from Putney Bridge and go up Gowan Avenue > Bishop's Road to get to Fulham Broadway as it's less annoying than Fulham Road. It seems like needless cyclist negativity to me - I never really saw anyone going fast on there as it's heavily trafficked by pedestrians.
They're seriously massive. I wonder how a wheelchair user would deal with them.

Fulham road is becoming ever more perma-clusterfucked the more I ride it. There was a traffic jam pretty much from Fulham Broadway to SKen today.
I rode past an accident, but hopefully it wasn't too bad. Motorcyclist had been taken out at a crossroads (his priority; I imagine he filtered as someone else flashed a waiting car to cross the road). Didn't look like it could have been too high speed but the car involved looked pretty totalled. It did make me reflect that this exact situation has nearly happened to me at that spot a number of times - so many drivers volunteer priority trying to be nice but forget to check their mirrors. No idea who is at fault in the situation, but one to think about.

McClaren had more than 30 provided you count cup competitions (knocked out at first go in the FA cup, he at least had 2 games in the League cup).
Though it is a total shambles nonetheless and I can't see Rafa changing that. A good opportunity to add some miracle-worker brinksmanship to his CV without risking any negative associations, though.

It does seem bizarre. Looks like the decision not to prosecute was made very early, before the revelations about his medical record etc. As I understand it the inquest cannot result in criminal proceedings (which is good in some ways as it helps the truth come out and lessons be learnt). It's a real shame to see a reasonable proceeding be corrupted by the fact it was all human error, though. If the lorry had failed in some way and it was a common fault, then this no-criminality inquest would be a good way of exposing the problem and fixing it. But because it turns out he's just a dickhead who lied about his health problems and ended up killing six people, it looks like a joke.

Cycling behind a lorry this morning. It slows down and indicates a left turn with plenty of warning just outside Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. I slow down and wait. Guy on a Boris Bike comes piling along at a fair pace and looks like he's going to shoot down the inside of aforesaid left-turning lorry. I decide I must take action and bellow 'it's turning left' just as BB guy nonchalantly skids to a stop, whereupon he turns around and glances disdainfully at me before joining me in waiting for the lorry to complete its manouevre. I felt a bit of a prat.

The 'get oot the way' bell ringers have scared loads of pedestrians on my route. This morning as I was coming in, I was making a right turn into a side road. There was a woman crossing from the right hand side of that road, but a bit further back than the entrance. I had seen her and was slowing down to come to a stop to allow her to cross when her friend, who was on the main road I'd turned off shouted 'Sarah, WATCH OUT!!!' causing her to simultaneously jump and freeze. I came to a stop and waved her to cross, but the pair of them were obviously alarmed at potentially having someone on a bike come near them.
I do wonder if all these bell-ringing twats make pedestrians scared of cyclists. It definitely pisses me off when I'm walking if I'm crossing a road without/against a signal and some comes charging up on a bike screaming at me to move - even white van drivers don't do that!

Saw some atrocious driving on my commute in this morning. About 10 metres from some (red) traffic lights, there's a scaffolding lorry parked in the right lane (so cars approaching have to come into oncoming lane to go around it). There are cars parked on the left hand side. I'm in the centre of the lane (for primary reasons and also because I was overtaking another cyclist). Someone in a porsche flies up behind me, goes around me and only just manages to cut back in before slamming into an Addison Lee taxi that was coming round the lorry. Only just missed me when he cut back in. Got stuck at the lights literally 2 seconds later. I shouted very loudly at him through the whole procedure but he gave zero reaction. While I was waiting at the lights, the cyclist I was overtaking during aforesaid debacle informed me that he'd spotted Porsche guy was texting throughout his suicidal manouevre. I mean, come on. I very rarely see anything i'd consider reportable, but I wish i'd bothered to stick my GoPro on this morning.

If someone leaves their screen unlocked, ctrl+alt+cursor key will flip the screen in that direction. Ctrl+alt+down is my favourite. You can also use the alt gr key+cursor key to enact this trick.
Watching people who don't know the shortcut craning their necks while trying to use their now inverted mouse is hilarious.

Me: had to swerve to avoid a pram pushed into a zebra crossing this morning. I was approaching at the same speed as traffic, but not really concentrating :(. The woman pushing the pram seemed to me to be a few feet up the pavement away from the crossing and looked to have no intention of crossing, but just pushed into it without pausing and it was either swerve or emergency stop. I could have avoided the whole situation by approaching at a more relaxed speed (not that I was going particularly fast to be honest) and now I feel like a dork.

I was behind a small lorry yesterday which had TWO 'cyclists stay back' stickers, both of which had been given the drivers' own personal touch. The first had 'DANGER' scrawled all over, and the second, lower down, had 'BORIS SAYS "BACK OFF!!" written on it.
So I would say yes, perhaps these stickers encourage drivers to think that their responsibility to check mirrors and blindspots is somewhat reduced.
TBF though, that particular lorry was being driven well.

Guy on a Scott mountain bike this morning: came out of the emergency fire path on the right here turning right without looking and forced an oncoming open-topped recycling tipper truck to slam his brakes on with such force that slivers of broken glass flew everywhere about the place.
I nearly shat myself watching that happen.

This nearly happened to me a few months back - forced into parked cars by a RM van driver who didn't like the fact I was riding primary down a v narrow road (20mph limit, traffic calming etc). I caught up with him at lights and went alongside his window, was going to have a word, but he just screamed 'CUUUUUUUUUUNT' at me so I didn't think it would be productive.
In short, I hope you nail the bastards.

Saw a ridiculous near miss today. Coming down Old Brompton Road, near the cemetry. I'm behind a van which is indicating to turn left, so I move out to the right, expecting to go round it. As it starts to turn, a guy who was behind me shoots up the left hand side of the van, causing it to slam on its brakes (fortunately an observant and slow-moving van driver). The near victim didn't even notice what had happened. I rode past the driver and told him it wasn't his fault and then tried to catch up to the near victim to have a word, but he proceeded to jump every red light and then turn off my route so I never got the chance.
Shook me up quite a bit because he MUST have seen the van indicating, and if he didn't, he's either too unobservant to be safe on the road, or just a total douche.

Have to agree with Jimmy_Fingers. I was actually a little bit gobsmacked when I heard Boris' views on this, but then I remembered it was Boris.
It's too easy an excuse, and it's horrible. If I was one of the relatives of the riders killed in London this year and I heard that from anyone they'd be lucky to retain any teeth.

The graveyard bit there is pretty cool, though last time I cycled through there in the summer I encountered a dishevelled looking bloke wearing y-fronts and a wasitcoat. Not sure if he's a fixture or whether it was a one-off.
