the only pro i can think of in terms of going for the SKS is the use of the secuclip things on the rear to allow ease of access in the event of a puncture (this will be my winter and do it all (well nearly everything) bike)
anyone put VO polished/hammered 35-37mm guards on a OTP vigorelli with any success? not sure i want to go down the boring old SKS route.
