Hi all, I'm looking for a mudguard extender that would work on SKS mudguards on a 20" wheel. For an e-bike: https://www.winora.com/de-en/p/radius-wran1/ attached is a photo.
Looked at getting an Ass Savers ToeTector or something similar but you have to mount via bolt/zip tie and there is no hole to do this in the current SKS mudguard. Looking at their website, I do not see any compatible extenders: https://www.sks-germany.com/en/productcategories/mudguards/
Any options (other than duct taping a half a coke 2L bottle) would be appreciated

Selling a Restrap SUB Backpack. Great condition, just almost never used. Need a bigger backpack for kids stuff now. Size is 19L. Discontinued on Restrap's website but still comes with their lifetime warranty. Was purchased for £99, selling for £50. I'm located in Zurich, will take care of shipping. Cheers

wow, thank you for the responses everyone
I went through all of them. I like @sohi 's suggestion for veloheld - has the style i'm looking for. not sure of the quality of steel tho. I'm used to the Genesis CdF 20 which is Reynolds 725. Are these of similar quality?Reason for the belt is i'm super lazy for servicing and don't want to deal with it. One concern with the belt however is lack of gears. I'm always carrying heavy loads and climbing hills in zurich is tough - was borderline thinking of an e-bike but trying to resist :)

Hi all
I'm in the market for a new commuter bike. Willing to spend a bit more as I will use it daily but also looking for low maintenance hence was looking for something with a belt drive.Requirements would be:
- Steel frame
- Belt drive - or at a minimum a 1x (will need gears to get up hills where I'm at with load)
- Hydraulic disc brakes
- Bike rack
- Prefer gravel bike instead of mountain bike setup
- Rear rack for panniers
- Dynamo front/rear lights
Was looking at a Fairlight or a Surly frame but they don't have a belt drive.. any other suggestions? budget would be +/- 3k
Thanks
- Steel frame

Hi all
I have SKS mudguards mounted on my commuter. When it's raining, I get lots of mudguard splash onto my shoes which I'd like to avoid so I do not have to wear waterproof shoes all the time.On my previous commuter I had longboards, however, this one only has the regular sized mudguards. is there some type of extension I can mount onto the mudguards I have to extend coverage? Yes, I could mount a Coke bottle cut in half but I'd rather have something that is more sustainable and looks proper.
Here is a photo of the current setup. Thanks in advance

Hi all, I have a 2021 genesis croix de fer 20 and setup like a commuter / touring bike. I find myself adding load on/off the bike quite a bit and a kickstand will help. I know, I know but as I get older, I'm looking for simplicity.
I need something which can support load 30-50kg, rear kickstand, hence I previously purchased a Pletscher Comp 40 Flex kickstand. However, my frame apparently is not compatible with it.
Any recommendations here? attached is a photo of the frame
Thanks in advance!

Well took the bike today to another bike shop, this one is one I trust just further from where I live (where I took my previous steel bike for repair) and issue could be a combo of cassette/spacer, chain width, and derailleur adjustments. They’re so busy to even diagnose the issue need to come back in 2 weeks - will update more when I get the final outcome. They agreed that a 1x probably won’t make things quiet same as your recommendations thanks
-
Thanks all - I wasn’t aware that a 1x was still going to make some chain rub noise? Seems counterintuitive. I just want my setup to be noise free in most of the gears. Right now I just have some odd rub in the highest 3 gears. I will look to take to another LBS to index. I hope it’s just that and not as replacement part required
-
Really? 1x setups are not quiet?? Would think less (or nothing) to rub on in the front
What is a NW chainring? What does NW stand for? Sorry for the n00b question
Is it then possible to have no chain rub sound on a 2x20 setup if indexed properly or will there always be a sound in the lower/upper gears?
-
My motivation is in the current 2x20 setup the gears are finicky…always seems to have a chain rub sound however adjusted and yes aware of shift/trimming required. Even took to LBS. I just want simplicity and a nice humming sound not chain rub (big pet peeve).
The bike is commuter/tourer setup so just want simplicity. I live in Zurich so still need a spread of gears to get up the hills with load and filled panniers.
So I could reuse my shifters and rear derailleur? What would I need, a new chain, rear cassette, front ring and?

Hi all
I have a Genesis Croix de Fer 20. I want to convert to a 1x setup. The specs of the components are here:https://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/genesis-croix-de-fer-20-vargn21041
Any tips on gear ratio to consider, what I can reuse and what I would need to buy new? Thanks!

My Bob Jackson World Tour bike I've had for years and had repaired just got nicked in Zurich ugh. Now I'm in the market to buy a steel frame bike to replace this one to commute and for longer rides.
Bumping this thread up to see if there are any other bikes to consider? Right now leaning towards Genesis (however everything appears out of stock) and Fairlight (though lead times really long)
Any further input appreciated thanks

Just an update - ended up going with a local framemaker Fahrradbau Stolz in Zurich. Met with Röbi Stolz and was a great guy and really knows his steel. Bob came back better than expected and with many new parts (bigger cassette, chain, wider 35c Schwables, cables, etc feels like a new bike! Highly recommend for anyone in Zurich.
