Well done to you and your crew! Thanks for coming over to say hi... Will you be riding fixed next year then?
Definitely, too much fun. The lack of killer hills (though sometimes it felt they would never end!) and distance plays well for a fixie. Plus the hospitality and organisation, got my name on it!
-
Hi funkt, great times, we managed 12hr/3hr. I was on the 14R. Agree fantastic organisation, like arriving at a village carnival at each stop. Our B+B host father was the original organiser of the event, a surgeon wanting to promote health etc. House full of memorabilia of the Vattern. Next year is 50th, big deal so will do again. Just great atmosphere. Stay in touch see if we can get a Peleton together.

Completed the Vattern 12 hrs of cycling and 3 hrs of rests. Bike 14 R with 50/17 ratio was a bit aggressive given the headwind. Fantastic event. I saw two others, one who brought wife and baby and other on a Plug. Wanted to say HI, congratulations, sorry didn't stop to chat brain stopped working.
Swedes we shared B and B were perplexed on why you would do it on a fixie and didn't like the single break set up. For the 50th V, see if we can get our own Peleton together. -
There is no good ratio for doing it fixed, it's just a stupid idea, that's a cracking pace tho. Took me 6 hours on 44x17 (don't know how long my breaks were). Ratio was a bit low on reflection, made getting up Leith easy (apart from getting through the crowds) but was cursing the down-hills. Was probably one of the few that was pleased to see Wimbledon Hill.
Were you the guy on a blue bike with bullhorns and a Carradice? It was the only other fixed I saw and I think that was the gearing he said he was running.
Agree no right solution, my Bike14 was set at 50/18 which was perfect for everything except Leith where I was swinging too much and struggled to avoid the geared bikes when the lane narrowed.
Hi funkt, I have also registered for 2015. Agree the wind can't possibly be as bad as last year.
Going fixed on my Bike 14, 50/17, bit aggressive but its not a hill climbing kindof trip. Did the Nelson Tour de Test Valley last month, now that was a killer.
This is the 50th Vattern so should be a carnival.
