Last night, riding home with massive headwind, coming down Farringdon Rd (riding primary in the bus lane due to the wind/pissing rain/traffic) idiot black cab driver overtook me at speed brushing my shoulder, does the same thing to guy in front of me further on. Catch him just before Blackfriars bridge when he inevitably gets stuck in traffic so launched a foul mouthed, expletive filled tirade at him. Sat there chewing his gum with his mouth wide open staring at me, not a word in response. Felt bad for the passengers in the back, but then again the cabbie was/is still a cunt and deserved it.

The best local source seems to be this place here:

Polys Bikes (Bianchi)
Micromania (Trek)
Agrotis (Giant)Don't expect to find the variety available in the UK.

Bodybuilder-shaped builder saunters slowly across a pelican crossing this morning, going deliberately slowly with a grin as I come from one direction and another cyclist comes from the other. I slow right down, wait for him to pass, but nip behind him before he's fully across. He's been waiting for this and is ready with a weird backwards kick - lunging his leg out at me horizontally as he's still facing in the same direction, crossing the road. He'd clearly planned it. Yeah, I was in the wrong, but I'd given him loads of space. Enough, in fact, that he missed me by a good foot even at full reach.
Sorry for being a tad naughty but still giving you ample space, but you're a nutjob...
What a twat!!!!

Had a chat with a propper PC at E&C this morning. Pulled up at the lights at the southern roundabout. I looked over, and he said good morning! General chit chat about loving being out in the cold for hours etc...he joked that they needed to be out to keep "you lot" in line! I quipped back "well, as soon as your gone we'll be back to our old ways". he had a good laugh. I was quick to add that everyone has hopefully learnt to get along a bit better and chill out.
Was nice to have a laugh with the copper. Nice as well to have a chat to others as we rode off through the roundabouts of death. Some good vibes out there this morning.

Perhaps he's right. I should have anticipated him being a twat...
It is, sadly, the best way to be - anticipate fuckwittery at every oppurtunity and you won't be suprised/cut off/ left hooked/knocked off/killed when someone does something stupid
Edit: obviously it sucks riding along thinking the worst and anticipating stupidity at every chance, but it seriously helps to avoid problems.

Quoted because Dr Funke is awesome!
I ride across Blackfriars Bridge then up Farringdon Road everyday (and the reverse on the way home). I leave work at 5 on the dot as any later it gets gnarly heading south. Left at 6 the other night and it took me about 10 minutes to get to Southwark street! There are building works going at the junction and they've taken a lane forcing everyone into one lane. At least they've had the sense to keep a bike lane...too bad peds think it is a foot path.

...Junctions like Bow were designed when planners thought that London should be penetrated by urban motorways and that all the future would be car traffic. It is now completely out of its time and requires that radical redesign. ...
Very good point.
As an aside, you can see those plans reflected in some buildings in areas where the motorways were supposed to be - Moorlands Estate in Brixton, for example. If you have ever gone down Coldharbour Lane, which was going to be part of the motorway, you'll notice this monstrosity of a building. Huge walls, very few and small windows on the north side (back) of the building.
back on topic, let's hope they get a redesign done, and right!

I have to say it definitely feels like a backward step for them to have removed it.
Couldn't agree more - it was never "good" to begin with, but now seems worse. I guess time will tell.
I always found that cars in the right hand lane (back on Brixton Rd, near the church) would speed off as the lights changed, to get ahead to get into the left lane, as they would want to head left on Kennington Rd further on. A shit intersection for everyone. I don't envy the people trying to sort these things out.

Heading north along the A23 just before the junction where it joins the A3, vehicle to my right pushing to the very edge of the left hand lane (where the bike lane is in the picture) and nearly pushing me into the curb. Realise pretty quick there is no bike lane there anymore. This is going to cause havoc at an already horrible series of intersections.

Yesterday on Oxford St, three suicidal peds wander out onto the road. I was going at quite a pace because a) there was no traffic and b) was running late for a lunch date. They separate and I manage to squeeze through, clipping one of them. I look behind just to see she hasn't fallen over, she continues dawdling across the road without looking and wandering what just hit her. Honestly...
Need to carry a joust, just in case.

Anyone skipping the commute this morning? Thought I was going to have oh shit moments so am now on the train! #chicken
Decided to ride in. Was pretty gnarly...had a few "oh shit" moments near Brockwell park - massive gusts of wind pushing me around, had to go straight over some pretty big branches. Even had one fall out of a tree and smack me in the face...helmet + glasses = me keeping my eyesight

Anyone else notice the bike coppers out in force around Kennington/E&C yesterday arvo? Saw at least 3 sets of them around 1700. Some fuckwit in full fluoro riding down the wrong side of London Road ran straight through a red light amongst peds to turn right on to the blue cycle route. Motorbike coppers watched him ride through and did fuck all. One bloke further on had been pulled over just north of Kennington station (heading south). Looked like he was just getting a talking to rather than a ticket.
Was in too much of a rage to think about it haha...need to remember this next time!
