Hi all,
Organised a trip with friends to do this next weekend.
MTB promptly nicked the next day.
Looking for something, anything that will get me around on the downs. Based in Brighton but happy to collect from London. Would love to hear from anyone who's got a cheap as chips MTB, or any advice.
Thanks!

Had my shitty bike stolen from my flat yesterday, Stoke Newington/Dalston area. Distinctive pink 'Pig' sticker on dark blue 501 raleigh frame, flat bars, gold miche hubs, rolls saddle etc. worth nothing but now i have to walk to get around. No pics of it apart from this from before it was built.

As title - uncovered F+F in a cellar. Cleaned it up and was ready to build it back up (had most parts with it) maybe as a little tourer...only to discover with dismay that it had track ends.
What use can a mountain bike be without gears? Is single speed mtb a thing? Should i give up on the idea of a tourer then? Am i missing something - any way to run gears?
cheers, apologies if stupid questions. -

Definitely. I think if people decide to cycle down the canal, they have to accept it's gonna be slow and they don't have priority, but the cyclists who go down there seem to think exactly the opposite.
It gets very busy with cycle traffic down there at times and people treat it like a road which isn't on, you see a mix of clueless people like the guy tonight and then people kitted up with their lycra and panniers and high vis down there narrowly avoiding kids and dogs and prams at speed.
Nice to have a vent. Always feel guilty after having given someone a piece of my mind. -
Had quite a heated altercation with another cyclist on Regent's canal on my way home today. After dark, no lights and headphones in - as I go past ringing my bell he swerves into me, oblivious. Tried to stay calm and explain what he was doing wrong, but he got aggressive and told me I should ring my bell. I told him I was and he should either get rid of the headphones or have a bit more awareness, he just got worse - decide to ignore and carry on but as I ride off I hear him shout something after me so I stop and we square up a bit. No fisticuffs but was quite unpleasant and not happy to have been involved in it.
Really not that type of guy but felt I had to make a stand. I'm along the canal often, and some of the inconsiderate cycling - mainly to pedestrians - is infuriating. Even though it's quite a detour I'll stay on the road from now on I think, I've had enough stupidity.
just received a stem bag, couldn't be happier. thanks so much @user71349 heartily recommended bags
