These have been posted on all the usual sites. These have been with us for the past 8 years and both just very recently been rebuilt/resparyed. Both in unsual colours. One Pea Green with matching sprayed up mudgards, White Pearson logos. The other in metallic Tobacco Brown with Gold Pearson logos. Both high end Campag shifters/chainset etc. These have been all over Europe and have lots of sentimental value. If anyone hears anything, we'd much appreciate it. Thanks.

Thanks Bump/diki for the thoughts...before I logged in here I'd decided to sell the bike on as a whole. I'm a confident mechanic so parts are going to be replaced nwith new quality items as I'd never want to sell anything on to someone else that was duff. So all, a very nice and (will be) fully serviced Ridgeback Solo will be on advertised on eBay very shortly.

Run many tyres over the years. I mostly try new always to see advantages/disadvantages etc.
I would +1 the Bontrager Hardcases...they do a folding XL/XXL (can't remember which) version which are much lighter, but still wear very well and don't give in to punctures for 1000's of miles.
Gatorskins good up to 1000 miles and then puncture every few yards. Not tried the hardcase version yet.
Conti Grand Prix 4 season. Great tyres, expensive, but been running them for a year so far with no flats and still going strong and I commute 5 days a week 30 miles a day on these....all year, so not shabby.

Hey All!
Have one of the last Ridgeback Solo's (56cm). Its served me well but I'm moving on. As it is still running all original parts it's in need of some new parts (chain, freewheel, BB) and a general tidy up if I'm to sell it on as a whole bike. I do all cycle work myself so no labour costs. Is it worth doing up and selling on as a whole bike (do up on cheap/do up with quality parts and add value)? Or stripping it to frame/fork/headset combo and then sell the Sugino cranks, brakes etc separately on somewhere like eBay? I wouldn't want to sling a cheap BB in there to pass on as if I were replacing it for myself then something decent (Sugino 103mm) would be fitted. Not sure if I'd be wasting my money in buying decent parts, fitting and selling on.
Anyone had any experience? Thoughts?

I have one of the last Solo's off the prod line I believe. I bought it from Cyclopedia Ken High Street and it was their very last one. It's been in daily use up until the middle of this last winter. I was thinking of stripping it down, rebuilding and selling on (hopefully for a bit of profit). However, thinking about it most fixie/ss guys 'n gals want their bike to look how they want it to look and I've thought I'd be out of pocket/time servicing it and fitting new parts.
My idea is to strip to frame/carbon forks/headset and sell it. It's a 56cm frame, however I'm 5'11" and fitted a longer seat post and the dimensions were spot on for me.
As it needs new free wheel, chain, bb (still running original kit) and some other bits was thinking of stripping good/bad kit, dumping the bad and selling on the good as parts on either here or eBay
Not sure if you're interested? Both frame and fork are in good condition no dings just marked paintwork from locks etc. I will be stripping it down, cleaning and re-greasing headset in next couple of weeks.

Sorry to hear! Had my Mercian (just) re-built Pearson swiped just before Christmas. Happy Christmas to me! As you its the sentimental value that trumps the financial value. Mine had been all over Europe with me over the past 8 years! Do keep an eye out for it on http://www.findthatbike.co.uk (Gumtree, eBay and PreLoved cycle related ads all pulled into the one web site). Do be careful with photos and titles on there. Those selling stolen bikes will either post a pic of the actual bike they are selling on (sometimes obscured/out of focus), but the wording may not be correct or vice-versa to throw you from finding it. If its sold complete on one of the websites they can appear just hours after, or a few days/a week when the theft isn't as 'hot'. Good to check a few times every 24hrs and you'll be surprised of the number of ads if you look at all for sale.
Hopefully you have also registered your bike with findthatbike and then marked it as stolen. The Met use the web site to trace the owners of recovered bikes. Hopefully you know or have the frame number to add to the site. That way that is your proof that the bike is yours. Had an old hybrid stolen previously and I never registered it at the time and the sneaky thief took the frame no. and registered it as his own on the site to then sell on. Not complete proof of ownership, but if you've had it eons and no longer have a bill of sale etc then difficult to prove {possibly}.
One last thing, email a description and photo to the Cycle Task Force cycletaskforce@met.police.uk They will distribute it between their officers to keep an eye. Any known scratches/seat post marking that you made to keep the seat height correct for yourself etc put in the email, especially for a stock machine. Oh, also Broadway and Brick Lane markets are worth a visit at the weekend as I've heard that stolen bikes are sold there. I hope you are reunited soon!
