So the general concensus is that the timeline given is way to tight and by the time they could be ready with the product other companies that have been in the game a lot lot long will have dropped prices to a much lower amount than we see today.. So the 250-300 quid powermeter is only 12 months away anyway regardless if limits is successful or not..

The number one solution i have found to stop creaking chainsets is to apply (copper grease) on to the bottom bracket threads and the spindle arm, copper grease is used for a number of things in the automotive world but is a main staple for the rear of disc pads to stop pads noise. This can be purchased from any automotive shop inc halfords.

Yep Q factor issue is the deal breaker, needs a large company to come in and work with Limits to incorporate their system into a crank arm. If the tech can be made so much cheaper than a Stages or powertap it could be the first really affordable powermeter on the market but as a current concept I cannot see it working?..

I would make the leap full time to Campag if I did not have so many Shimano wheels, and sadly getting replacement freehubs would be troublesome. The other reason is that with Campag I am a nervous wreck when I head abroad to the far flung corner of the globe as Campag parts are non existent. I also understand? that the newer Campag stuff is lower quality than the older stuff (they say), I currently have a 2007 Shim-ergo setup on my "cough" "cough" Gravel bike and they fell so much more bomb proof than anything I have ever used before.
You saying that the front 5700 lever is sloppy I can sinpathis with that, my replacement I got went like that after 2k, It still works but not anywhere near as crisp as it should be..
You know what my best levers are? and these feckers would survive a small nuclear warhead hitting the high beech tea hut.. Retro shift levers with DA frictions mounted see pic of the surly, the carbon gear wankers slatted these levers yet they flat out do the job when you really must make that shift...
-
I was running 5700 for a bit and had the same issue with the front shifter, I sent it back to Merlin and respect to them they sorted it out ASAP giving me a new shifter simply stating there was a internal fault, I then had the rear shifter go pop and jam on me after about 1500miles, and the replacement went the same way as the front about 4 days before I was heading abroad to ride. Again this was sorted by the dealer, never did get any real answer to the problem. My gut is saying that a spring becomes weak? that is the only thing I can think of..

Sorry brother I have just seen this post,
Yeah really strange but hey what can you do?.. I actually managed to get the thumb lever from Sidcup cycles for 12quid which was way cheaper than I though and I did the replacement this afternoon, all went well but it is a small learning curve. Took me about 30 mins but I could probably do it again now in about 3 minutes. All seems well but until mounted who knows?..
I will keep your web address to hand as I think I may well make the leap over to Campag with my new builds..

Most people are unaware because they simply do not care and I would not say its just the once a week fair weather rider either, I see just as poor actions from seasoned cyclists..
If you look already at what has been done to educate such as safeway (albeit that ended up as a revenue stream for the Met) radio and TV public information broadcasts and then the media coverage of every cycling death most people that ride in London have at some point had this information relaid to them regarding the dangers that are out there. Least not forget good old common sense.
I know it may be easy for me to say all this as I have held a motorcycle licence for 15 years, a car licence 10 years and also have PCV entitlment with current CPC plus copius amounts of cycling miles. This means that in my experience I have had no choice but to make sure I read the road ahead. Many people do not have anywhere near this experience and there are no short cuts to gain it.
Take my post re the guy that went up the inside of a bus as it was indicating to pull into a stop, He must have seen myself and another rider holding back yet as he undertook me the bus was already pulling in and the 3 foot gap he had was closing fast. I cannot see how anyone with a ounce of sense would make that move and think it was ok??
What could anyone do to educate a person out of doing such a thing??..

Geezer this afternoon heading North bound through Shoreditch near the Honda dealer, Black singlespeed, rucksack with tripod bungee.. What the hell was you thinking heading up the nearside of myself and then the 149 Bus as it was serving the stop?. Had the driver not done that last mirror check and stopped you would have been toast. Worst bit you seemed totally oblivious to the situation..

Having spent a few hours looking into this and getting a mate to check his record shifters for me it does indeed seem to be that the spring is missing. Looking at parts I believe I will need to buy a whole Thumb button return lever as the tiny spring is not a service part it would seem. Link and part needed is number 3
http://branfordbike.com/articles/campagnolo-ergo-lever-parts-1998-2008-pg71.htm
I am still not sure why a brand new lever set that was packaged would have this missing spring? I have no reason to think that the lever has ever been looked at let a lone taken apart?..

Afternoon,
I would normally try to research something like this but honestly i am sure someone here could shed some light way quicker.
A pal of mine living in Asia has been good enough to send me some NOS 10speed Centaur shifters. Now I have unpacked them and it seems that the thumb lever for rear mech does not return back to its position locking the shifter solid. Having inspected the left lever it seems there is a tiny spring situated under the paddle that is missing on the right.
Now can this part be sourced?? If so who would be the best port of call to get it??
Any help welcome for this Campag noob..
