Ive got a rather good experience, i asked for a 700 fork that could take a 40c tire but it hardly accepted a 35. Emailed and got another fork in 2 months later.
I got the travel version, and the couplers till now hold pretty well, and for serial for that money a frame with couplers?! Pretty sweet imho.
Mine is fine. Brake mounts far better aligned than my Chaiwanese and somewhat 'respectable' Cotic.
I've only worked on a few Marinos/Hijas but in my experience huge manufacturers and custom builders also make mistakes. The difference with most custom builders is that they will work with you to resolve them. And with big manufacturers, a reputable shop should catch those problems before they even reach a customer.
IMO Marinos/Hijas are amazing for the money, but if he's going silent and ignoring errors then they'll probably become less ubiquitous.

I'll be in Europe for a couple of weeks, looking to play some tournament. DutchMaster on LOBP and HCBP.org. Originally started to play in Utrecht, Holland but since a year playing in San Diego and Los Angeles. Solid tournament finishes here and looking for the same in Europe. So if you're looking for a third hit me up...
Kona's A-C is around 390.. i broke that fork within a couple of months using a low end shimano hydro disc brake. FYI
