Something a bit different on the stick making front for me. The farmer whose land I am surrounded by has given me his great-grandfathers' rams horn crook handle (c1900 by simple maths) to rebuild. It had cracks, had slightly lost shape and is
bias cut. It also had a patina of century old varnish flakes.Anyway, I have heated it, returned it to shape, filled the cracks and polished it. Now the 'fun' part, because it is bias cut the stick fitting into it must be very precisely hand-carved in every direction, it must also be within 0.5mm of the diameter of the handle because of the wall thickness. Just to make my life more difficult I decided on a hazel stick because it would look good, meaning I can't be out in any direction or the bark would have to go.
So far, so good....

I have no experience in this. Hip dysplasia is a genetic disorder common in labradors, to the extent where all responsible working dog breeders have their dogs checked (show dogs not so much). I have been lucky in that none of my labs has been affected. I have friends whose dogs have had dysplasia. The reality is that those dogs have had significant continual discomfort and mobility issues at best, even with extremely careful owners. The vets bills were large.
If you are up for this you will probably have an absolutely lovely dog and I would applaud you for giving it a second chance to be happy.

I don't get your meaning, it's probably just me, but all my dogs have slip leads and I have never felt the need for anything else.
Putting a slip lead on Barry the diminutive psychopathic furball might be a little challenging. My approach to the owner might be less than LFGSS approved, nor would it be appropriate for the peaceable @owl, but it would stop the nonsense and save me from having to stamp on Barry (who isn't to blame, he's a dog not a human).

Once the range (and possibly altitude) have been benchmarked, it's time to start training. A period of interval work on a turbo, with squats using weights, could lead to significant performance gains. Could this be recorded on Strava?
@DethBeard, has it occurred to you that Bosco is a terrier and refuses to leave the house dressed like that in case his mates see him?
I'm thinking about selling my pick up as I can no longer work due to spinal problems (operation awaited), plus my Z4 as fast driving isn't the fun it was. I intend to replace them with a nice estate and have narrowed it down to a Merc E class, Skoda Superb, Volvo V90 or Audi A6.
What is the hive opinion?
