Hi All
Friend of mine recently bought a Ritchey stem off eBay, I went round to help him fit it and immediately recognised it as very probably a fake. I have had Ritchey WCS kit before and it's head and shoulders above the quality of the one in question.
It's got a dodgy carbon wrap over a poorly made alloy stem. Quality of finish is terrible and graphics are wrong in part.
I advised him to get in touch with the seller and ask for full refund. The seller gave him a full refund no questions asked, he just had to post it back. Kind of makes you think the seller knows it's fake???
The item number is 140911287163, I urge you all to report it to eBay and beware.

Well I finished it a few days ago - when I say finished, I mean I can ride it. It still needs a few bits to be called complete. Here's a rubbish pic from my Christmas day ride - this was taken whilst fixing my mates puncture, shoving it in the bushes was the only option to keep it upright!
It needs;
Saddle - just bought a Selle Italia Turbo Matic off the bay, waiting delivery
Headset spacer - currently running a red Hope 1 1/8" which looks shit and works just as bad. Going to order a VeloSolo jobbie.
Tyres - Need some winter tyres. Think all black is the way to go but might consider tan walls, not sure yet.That's about it, will post some better pics when the weather clears up.

Phase One of winter beater complete:
It's a beautiful frame with some nice details (nervex lugs and unusual fluted & notched top-eyes), so I couldn't bear to sell it for peanuts or throw it out. Phase two will be to strip the paint, let it rust for a bit, then clearcoat it (very much like Sam Doman's Dawes from a few pages back). Although I do really like the patina it has at the moment, I basically just want to have a go at doing the rusty clearcoat trick. I have also ordered a smaller (silver) chainring, as the gearing's a bit stiff for carrying any serious loads at the moment, and I have some eggbeaters in the wings for when I ware through my current cleats.
Don't strip it! It looks great, unusual colour and real patina! Just find a set of chrome forks.

First thread, first Colnago.
So after finishing my De Rosa Milanino, my Peugeot Competition 7000 Winter Bike, my MTB and then buying a Motobecane project, the last hing I needed in the shed was a Colnago frame.
Then a ridiculously cheap frame appeared on the bay and I found myself throwing in a bid with 4 seconds to go.
And here we are - I secured a canary yellow frame with chromed Columbus forks for less than £120 delivered from a guy in Belgium
Why so cheap? Some slight bulging around he top of the seat tube and paintwork scuffs and scratches.
Frame arrived within a week, very pleased, despite the poor packaging - basically arrived in a large paper bag with he front mech hanger sticking out. Turns out the bulging in the seat tube was the result of someone removing a stuck seatpost.
What the pics don't show is the really nice lustre the frame has, the yellow has a pearlescent quality to it, very nice.
So I already have a number of components waiting to go on;
Campag hubs with Rigida rims
3ttt quill stem
Cinelli Criterium bars
Campag mirage shifters
Freccia D'oro Seat
Fizik black bar tape
Jagwire yellow cable set
Various bits of Campag groupos, not sure what I'll use yet.Just bought Campag headset and downtube adjusters off the bay too.
Done a quick throw together to get a feel for how it will look...
So I will be building this over Christmas, will keep you updated.
Any suggestions welcome!

Hi All
Here is my first single speed build, rescued from the scrap man.
Frame has Fred Williams decals on, this is a local bike shop in Wolverhampton which has been there for 50+ years. I spoke to them and they reckon it's not one of their frames as they never built one like this. Looks like it been resprayed and had new decals at some point during it's life. The dropouts are Gipiemme and interestingly the BB shell appears to be French threaded.
