So I managed to lose my Brompton (I folded it up as I got into a taxi and forgot to put it in the boot... beer may have been involved). Bit gutted as it was only just over a year or so old :'(
Anyway, I've just looked to get a new one to replace it and it seems they are still in very short supply. Is there anyone taking custom orders at the moment? It seems 2-speed bikes don't feature much in off-the-shelf/in stock bikes!

It seems to pull the cable but only a tiny amount. I'm unsure quite how much it should moving :-)
It looks clean to me so I suspect this is the problem. The shop want it back to service soon anyway so I'll let them handle it.
Is there a technique to pulling the seat up to the same(ish) height each time? I seem to get it wrong almost every time

My shiney new Brompton arrived in the store today and I can collect it monday!
The question is, what lights should I get? Living in London they only need to be sufficient to help people spot me rather than lighting up a dark road. Are there any options besides the Cateye ones that won't impact on the fold?

Further to looking at getting a new Brompton I think I'll go for the retro look with tempest blue and tan wall tyres.
Seems to be a mix of 2018, 2019 and 2020 bikes around (looking at new). Are there actually any differences between these models besides price? Any little tweaks/changes that are worth paying more for?

I'm just looking around to get a Brompton to quicken my commute... would really like to get an Orange Black Edition S2L but seems like everywhere is sold out. Does anyone have any idea if / when they are likely to bring out the ones for 2020?
The cost to change over stock parts is a little prohibitive given it's just cosmetic!

The randonee shorts are one of my best purchases.
Used them for the RideLondon a couple of weeks back. 6hrs 40 on the saddle in them and comfy as anything. Didn't have any bibs or padding underneath, just some merino boxers. They are top notch for my 10 mile each-way commute. No need to change when you get to the office either as they are fairly smart looking.
I'm usually a 32 in shorts/trousers and went with the size 32 for Rapha. Fits perfectly and there is a little bit of stretch in the material for those days you eat/drink too much :-)

Where was it you got stuck? I started at 8:52 and from the sounds of it was going a similar pace.
The two accidents I got caught up with were at ~20 miles (congestion as went to one lane by the scene) and then again at ~40 (the main one, but took the diversion around it).
It sounds like you got unlucky?

Well that was all a bit anti climatic. A very flat easy going course, box hill was underwhelmingly easy... I don't know what all the fuss is about! Leith hill was a killer though I must admit :-)
I didn't notice any other single gear/fixed riders out there?! There was a guy on a Boris bike though which I was quite impressed by.
My target time was 8 hours, managed it in just over 6 and a half, with up to an hour of that waiting for accidents and other slowdowns.
Bigger gear next time.

I guess I just elected to miss all those food/drink stands as my chocolate milk and jaffa cake combo has never let me down!!
I presumed online prices are still cheaper than those offered for most things.
As for race day... what do people do about locking their bikes up when going to the loo, refueling, etc? I could carry my lock, but having inspected some photos of the day, no one else seems to carry one?

Just invested in a new handlebar and bar tape. Don't really want to run the risk of being kicked out for the sake of a few quid.
I can sort of understand not allowing bull horns, it is impossible to brake if you're holding them on the side and they do have a tendency to get hooked on things. I still think it's a crap rule though as 99% of the time I just hold the bars normally and can brake instantly.Oh well...

I hope that's not an orange 2020 model S2L found abandoned in SE London lol
