My best friend and riding partner James (Jamie) Robert Lewis sadly passed away in his sleep on the 10th of April, dying from sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). I cannot put into words my sadness at his death, but I am determined to make positive things happen because of it. For this reason, myself and many of the people that knew him will be cycling from Clissold park in Hackney, to Bristol in order to raise funds for the charity "SUDEP".
I'm posting this here partly to raise awareness for the charity, partly to give a link to a justgiving page that Jamies father set up (http://www.justgiving.com/JamieRobertLewis) for those that would like to sponsor us on the ride, or simply donate to the charity. And partly to invite those that might have known him to join us on the ride on the 5th of July as I know he posted on this forum (although I do not know his user-name so if anybody does that would be nice to know).
Jamie played bike polo in Bristol and in London, so you may know him from one of these events. He was always up for a challenge hence the reason we are going from London to Bristol.
I will post more detailed information as we approach the date as arrangements are finalised.

Hey! Did I sell you this frame?
If so you've done a lovely job with it :) And I see the nice but worn campag headset is gone?
Very possibly, I got it off ebay and met (you?) in stratford station to pick it up, the headset was completely fucked so I replaced it with a Campagnolo gran sport.
I went for a blue and white theme with a (nearly) full NR group with cobalto brakes (shown in the linked pics back a page).
I think it probably was you who sold it to me and at the time you didn't know the tubing, I'm 99% that it's SL 1% of hope that it's SLX hahaI'm glad you got to see what I've done with it, took me ages, with loads of weird issues... I had to file down derailleur hangar so that it would take a nuovo record rear mech, and it needs a huge BB axle to stop the inner chainring from running on the chainstays. Despite all of this i love it, so thanks :)

Since we all hear stories of bikes getting stolen all too often, I felt I should share a story with a positive outcome.
About a year ago, my brother was cycling through Clissold park in Hackney when he saw a man with cycling gear running full pelt after a bike, this bike in turn was being ridden by a shady character. Naturally my brother gave chase, suspecting that something was up. Unsure of if the bike was indeed stolen my brother followed the suspected thief for 1 or 2 minutes towards stoke newington high street, and at one point along the way, 12 or so kids who had been playing football crossed the road in front of both my brother and the suspect forcing the suspect to slow down. Seizing this opportunity my brother grabbed hold of the saddle and said "Is this your bike?" and immediately the guy dismounted the bike confirming to my brother that he was guilty. The thief then sheepishly walked away to shouts of "Don't fucking steal bikes bro" and after this brief exchange my brother cycled both bikes back to the park to reunite the stolen bike with it's rightful owner.Thought I'd share just to remind us all that there are good people out there too
