Are you after an ISO 520 or 540 as they are totally different?
I have a 80/90's Raleigh 540 24 x 1 3/8 never seen a brake with tyre looks like it was taken off a bike tthe day it was bought, tyre still has moulding unworn though tyre is dirty so might have been riden years ago, bought in error too big for my Orbit, also have a Kinlin 520 32 spoke rim as I had to buy a pair (imported)the 540 measures approx 310 mm centre of axel to floor, the 520 is approx 295mm with a durano 23 mm tyre, to see what the rim looks like built up see my post on the last page on lo pros represent, if you wanted either I would want what I paid for them £35 -

I'm in for this if I can have an on/off ramp so I can go see my grand kids near you
Fundamentally I agree with you about Uxbridge, live here for financial reasons (divorce) & it's near work, perhaps you had your experiences the other day because you surprised them by riding on the road, most around here are only capable of riding on the pavement like the tosser that came round a corner clipped me & nearly ended up in the road today
