never lived in london, but I feel like a lot of people who got into cycling at the same time as me c. 2 years ago and after will just feel like road bikes and fixed bikes are two partially distinct, equally valid ways of having fun. It never occured to me to be interested in riding fixed to the exclusion of geared/lycra/ whatever, although it might have if I'd got into the whole thing a few years earlier.

Looking at the clearance again I'm not even sure that 1.5mm extra gained from 107->110mm would solve the problem. Change of cranks seems like the best option. Thanks for the recommendations.
edit: I noticed that as I tighten the cranks one arm of the spider begins to catch way before the others. It may be I have a dud.

I'm having trouble with the pre cursa + stronglight track 2000 cranks.
After cleaning, greasing, re-fitting my cranks + chainring the spider catches the chainstay severely. Must be that I had fitted them terribly the first time. As far as I can work out my options are:
Swap my BB (stronglight JIS 107mm) to 110mm or longer. Live with shitty chainline for now (I need this bike for commuting). I don't think I can fit a spacer behind the cog because the lock ring would then not be completely on the threads. Maybe down the road I can get myself a new rear wheel/hub with a non-standard big chainline?
New cranks. Can anyone recommend me some cheapish cranks that fit on the pre cursa and give 42mm chainline?

In Berlin so I can't complain...
Best: heading east along the river in the middle of the night, huge emptyish roads with mostly good surface.
Worst: heading west in the day, same route, but there's a small section of compulsory bike path on the pavement - ignoring it incites honked horns from drivers, the surface is fucked up from tree roots. I always take it just a bit too fast wanting to catch the light -

yeah, I think I will go with these two - rear from Nukeproof and front from Prime - it just seems a tricky business taking into account four variables. The thread length is 1mm longer in each case by my measurement, but I'm hoping that won't matter
