This is about to happen to my MBP. I am thinking of trying https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/ - have you come across it? Don't take this as a recommendation, but maybe you can give that a go to extend your old mac. Or the other option is installing Linux, trying this as dual boot in the first instance seems sensible.

I am getting drawn in to tile bagging ... after 15 years living near the peaks, half on the east and half on the west, I have got a fair amount of the middle of the Peak District National Park done without tilebagging (via a mix of road, MTB and running) and am hoping to finish it with some planned tilebagging outings in 2025 - which should hopefully grow the max square too.
Tracking this with Veloviewer and the Strava plugin ... Does Squadrats add more than just the small tiles?

I've got a 2016 MBP with lower specs and like you say I find it still works pretty well for browsing and most things, even coding with VSCode and photo editing with Affinity. For the cheapest option... just keep it? You could upgrade the OS as far as you can (Big Sur for a mid 2014?) and see if that keeps Slack happy. If Word doesn't make it across ditch Word in favour of Libre Office which feels pretty similar to old Office, or use it for free on Office 365 via your browser. If you want to upgrade the OS further then I believe it is possible with https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher but I have yet to try this - my MBP is on Monterey which I think is as far as it can go so am expecting to try it at some point. Anyone here tried this?

Meanwhile - stops reading about sedum roofs - back onto sliding storage systems - have been planning to try the doubleodavey solution for ages, which is track and carriages and hooks. It is great value apart from the hooks which seem hard to find at a lower price. While searching I found https://gear-blocks.com/sliding-bicycle-storage-rack/ - integrated hooks & carriages, looks like they are 3d printed by themselves? which fits into channel strut. Has anyone come across this system and tried it? I've ordered some hooks to give it a go.

Just spotted this - really like it. Our current house had something more basic over the bins supporting a green roof, but the roof could not drain - it was a tub lined with heavy duty polythene sheet. It filled up with cold rainwater and all the plants rotted, especially bulbs. It had to be taken down to put new windows in, so am meaning to get around to putting it back and have been thinking about drainage for the new one. Is this something you've anticipated with this?

I turned my touring bike into a flat bar with MTB groupset, the touring bike's GRX group went onto my road bike, so the old road bike group is going spare.
The bike is from 2017. I bought it 2nd hand in 2020 and have done 2,500km on it. Overall usage therefore unknown.
- SOLD 11sp cassette, 11-32
- SOLD chain
- SOLD rear derailleur (cassette, chain and RD sold for £20 in the end)
- SOLD RS505 hydraulic brifters - £40
All was working well when I took it off - I swapped it because I preferred the shape of the GRX hoods and because the cassette was a wider 11-36.
I've not got round to cleaning it up so I am offering it for what I hope is a price to reflect that.
Price includes postage and paypal fees (unless you are near Stockport then might be able to work out delivery / collection)

I have a 105 one, 11-32 though. Also a chain and RS505 hydraulic brifters. All reasonably well used and not cleaned yet, so smallish budget should be a good match :-) I have been meaning to put them on here and wouldn't be over £100 for the lot
My mileage ~2500km
Bike bought from previous owner who said he commuted on it but not enough to justify keeping it. Apart from some mud it did seem pretty much unused so can't think total mileage is much higher

Originally on here as 'unsure what CAAD it is'. I commented, 'google a 1998 sr500 and you get similar things'. Someone else agreed it looks 'remarkably like'. So it may well be - but no-one really knows. Next thing you know it's on ebay as definitely an 1988 sr500 and now back here as the same.
Reminds me of XKCD citogenesis: https://xkcd.com/978/
Not that it really matters, just minor variation, but just seems fair to point out it could be 1987, or an sr1000, or ...

I had one (large, older QR model with some cheap MTB wheels built on Shimano hubs and Mach 1 rims) and thought it was a bit flexy around the BB. I swapped it to a Giant Toughroad and I think that feels stiffer and I prefer riding it - feels more like a road bike. However luggage didn't seem to affect my perception of the Vagabond flex - I thought it was the same fully loaded.

In case it helps whoever bought them, I have owned a few pairs of these and I always cut those tags off because I didn't use them and they seemed a bit fiddly. It was easy to snip it just where it is stiched into the shoe. The cut did not then fray any further. Great price given how much sole is left!

Mangartkso Sedlo from TCR10 Parcours 1 ... worth a drive around on Street View https://maps.app.goo.gl/3Wz8CEh3DbuqcvNc9
was going to say, there's a wanted ad for one of these, I remember it because I nearly offered up mine. Hunted back... it was yours :-)
Mine is the R7 trail running one anyway, so not ideal for cycling - flappy hood. It's always been a bit small for me so have been wondering about cashing in on the 2nd hand values. It has a couple of micro-holes in it and the hood toggle, which I could patch, but as a result would be well under £120 if that is any good for your friend pacef8?
