Hi, i bought this at the Herne Hill cycle jumble on the weekend and realised i don't have the time or the room.
It's marked as a Don Farrell although i can't confirm it. 23 ". BCM lugs.
It looks like it's had a front collision at some point as head tube has ripple in it and lug under seatpost looks like has had some repair in the past. Seems solid though. Bearings are all smooth though and comes with axel and Rino headset.
£60
Cheers

Ok, do you think they are the proffesional lugs rather than the standard ones? I'll stick some wheels on it tonight and see if it is 27. I have some constrictor wheels marked as raleigh that could work. I think it has had a front collision though as slight ripple in head tube though so going to get that checked first. I have an old 40s merlin that i was building but its too big so have parts that i could swap over.
Will let you know about fork number when i check and if i get any further with it.
Cheers for your help.

Hi Rik, it is 27" i think although i haven't put anything on it yet, i just got it on the weekend and in the middle of another build. Cheers for the BCM info, i couldn't find anything on English builders. Here is the pic with the bottom bracket number. I am going to ry and check the fork column tomorrow.
Do you have any idea what it could be or if its worth holding onto?
Cheers

Hi everyone, i picked this up recently. Decals say Don Farrell and another Don Farrell sticker. Lugs are BCM and not sure about drop outs. The headset is a Rino which i think are cheaper Italian headset but the guy i bought it off said it had come with a random mix of parts so may not be original.
The only serial i can see is the number on the BB but that doesn't sound like a serial number. It looks like it has had a colision at some point as some damage to the underside of the seatpost lug although it has been repainted since then and paint job looks old so I'm guessing its ok. I'm getting it checked tomorrow.
I thought at first look that it was maybe 50s or 60s but I don't know if any English builders used BCM lugs then or if it was maybe repaired by Don Farrell and resprayed and they put the decals on. It's not a great paint job.
Anyway if anyone could help i'd appreciate it. It may go up for sale on here if I can find out what it is as was looking for an English build.
Cheers,
Ross

I've got an old 40s (i think) Merlin 24" but it's 27 " wheels with mud guard clearance. It's a great frame but could do with a respray and some rechroming. I like it a bit tatty though so left is. Chater Lea axel, williams crank set, chater lea headset and reynolds marsh level handlebars. Original Mafac centre pull brakes. Will upload a picture in a bit if its of interest.
