I'm just asking because we're usually wary of this sort of description in third party reports, but since you're reporting your own crash it may well have been the case as you wrote it?

I chose the words carefully - I rode into the back of the van, which had been forced to stop suddenly. No culpability on the driver's part.

Sorry to be posting this 2 weeks after the event but I have only just got out of hospital. This was me at about 8.30 in the morning heading west on Loampit Vale. I collided with a van. Outcome: ankle broken in a couple of places, torn ligaments and various other cuts and bruises. Haven't been able to assess bike yet, but I do know that the seat post was broken in two and the bars are bent.

Thanks to the two riders who stayed with me until the ambulance arrived. One, I noticed in my haziness, was riding fixed or SS, so may be on here.

I'm off the bike for a few months now but full intend to be back on that route by Spring.

I think he lives near me in Blackheath. I often see him just after leaving home and occasionally on the New Kent Road. Always looks like his saddle is about six inches too low.

This morning about 8:45 on the North side of London Bridge just before the lights at Lower Thames St.
A bus pulled over with the hazards on, driver and police remonstrating with a cyclist who was wearing a London -> Edinburgh -> London jersey.

Looked to be a calm but firm chat in all directions.

Ah yes, that'll be me. Bus driver had just nearly wiped me out by pulling out of bus lane across both the other two lanes as I was passing. Serendipitously, he came to a halt immediately opposite the two PCs on duty on the bridge. So our subsequent dialogue attracted their attention. :-)

One of the PCs was a bit of a plonker and kept coming out with comments like: "obviously there's been some kind of a misunderstanding between you and the bus driver...." Er, no. There's no misunderstanding; his driving was dangerous and I am only able to take part in this conversation because I have damned quick reactions. It was all pretty calm although the bus driver started shouting at me and pointing his finger at one point. Not a great start to the day.

Don't know if he is on here but the beardy guy with the courier bag (green lettering, didn't catch name) who was weaving his way in and out of the pedestrians on the north side of Trafalgar Square, at speed, at about 6 this evening and would have hit me if I hadn't moved aside should consider himself fortunate that I was in a hurry to catch a train otherwise he would have been on the deck. There's no excuse for being a prick.

I already had two cyclists and a bus driver as witnesses who each confirmed the licence plate as you have quoted it. Sadly the police have said they can't identify the driver so aren't taking it forward. This seems odd to me given that they have a licence plate, it was a minicab and had a fare in the back. Worst news is that my beloved Condor Pista is a write off. I'm very upset by the whole thing but trying to move on.

I've happily cycled in New York, Los Angeles, Calcutta and Paris. I don't think I'd chance cycling in Rome (and definitely not Moscow, but that's for another thread)

Hi. Been dipping in here for ages but finally got around to registering. I'm already on yacf. Commute from Blackheath-Trafalgar Square on a tatty brown Langster, with overloaded red panniers. Sometimes have a YACF or Audax top on. Say hi if you see me.
