thought i should reintroduce myself in here. been super busy with the marathon training and such, but i have managed to acquire a bike!
ended up getting a mongoose maurice off the bay after waiting a few weeks for a cheap frame to turn up, hopefully in the future ill build my own but me being me couldn't wait much longer. had it for a month or so now and with my fresh wage im looking into some changes, but i have a slight problme first.
my lock ring has become loose, and aswell as that, my chain seems loose. so i now need to sort that out, i went into harry halls but he figured id be looking at 15 or so to just tighten the ring/shorten the chain, and whilst i want it sorted quickly, i can live with riding SS for the time being whilst i acquire the tools. looking online it seems for the money he quoted i could pretty much buy the tools and do the the job myself, and at the same time leanr something i can use when i get round to building a bike from scratch!

People of Manchester:
I've seen ONSIND once they where pretty good (and I think now they are on Plan-it-X).
It's like if Cheryl Cole was male and played acoustic punk (not really but Chan will appreciate it)apologies i have none are worth £7 alone, great band, well excited for them. they used to be a 2 piece but they've got 2 new guys in now for the new LP. recommended. the first 2 EP's they put out as a 2 piece are ruddy brilliant.

Quick bit of advice chaps: Do any of you guys go to a gym? I need to exercise some of my devastating power on machines that I won't bend in minutes. There is a new Pure gym near me, but I've never been inside a gym before so I'm unsure if it's likely to be dogshit or not.
Wrong thread I know, but whatever BITE ME
i'm just about to join 'the gym' up at piccadilly. if your a student, it's £12 a month and no joining fee (you need a NUS card tho, but that's only £11, so it beats paying the normal £20 joining fee and £16 membership). if your not a student it's still a very decent offer!

Christs Chin! Awesome, that's from the day today right? Alan's commentary on the horse race
haha yeah, was waiting for someone to pick up on it! 'gypsy town massacre'.
possibly, i do fancy somewhere different, i've been running to and from fallowfield for ages, and it's getting very tedious now - i just have to be careful of were i run, both of my knees are pretty beat so anything harsh can put me in serious pain.

haha, for polo a bike would be necessary! it does sound fun though.
oh really? i've already registered (£50!!!!!), i'm running for the east lancs hospice too, im originally from blackburn. i've been running for a while but hadn't done more than 10 miles and wanted to challenge myself, that and raise some cash for a cause close to my heart.

training for the manchester marathon, longest run so far has been a half - fastest being 1.38, longest being 1.55. think im going to join a gym soon, just for a couple of months so that i can take some pressure of my knees, which are pretty beat. im having to run with a brace on each one, although my right is the most troublesome one.

better start off in here then eh!? tom, just joined up - currently riding nothing but that's changing soon, with the demise of my lovely ford fiesta i need a new form of transportation, and being a fan of fixed gears et al for a while, and my bursary due to land from MMU anytime now, i'm looking for some help/advice on getting set up!
i tried searching the forum for a good place to look for a bike (currently thinking of going down the road of converting an older bike to a fixed one) but most of the posts are a few years old now, anybody able to offer a little help? or even better, sell me something half decent?! bikes only going to be used to run to ffield and back (living in hulme), and getting to town etc so it doesn't need to be the fanciest thing ever.
also running the marathon in april (manchester), would be interested in a running buddy if anyone here is training too!
looking for a used bullhorn bar, £10/20 ?
