LFGSS and Microcosm shutting down 16th March 2025 (the day before the Online Safety Act is enforced)
Ffs, was just thinking the other day how increasingly glad I am to have on here as an antidote to the increasingly commercialised, malgorithm-driven social media ‘communities’. Genuinely gutted and would gladly stick hand in pocket on a recurring basis to keep it going, but totally understand this isn’t the ultimate problem for the bossperson.
Are there any other forums that we can migrate to? Some sort of wiki-based site? -

Not 330ml and not strictly an IPA but this is a very good and interesting number that comes in around the 3% mark… local to me so I’m lucky enough to find this on draft every now and then.

Absolutely - it’s spot on. I’m coming up with some ideas about a lighter weight strap to replace the current shoulder strap made out of the same webbing that I can store in the bag without taking up as much space - will message you if/when I want to proceed. Should be a pretty simple thing to run up hopefully. Thanks again dude 👌

Now approaching completion of what initially envisioned for this bike - pretty chuffed with how it’s turned out and have enjoyed bodging various mounts for things other than their intended uses (the under-saddle bottle mount for the lock, and the rear-rack light mount p-clipped on to my Pelago). Other little bits include some cheap Pinnacle ergon knock-offs and a top-cap phone mount. Thanks also to @pdlouche for the bag mods - for now going to run my trusty timbuk2 mini-messenger as a rack-top bag that lies flat enough for me to strap bigger stuff over the top of it. Can add some better pics of the mods if anyone is interested - it’s basically a strip of webbing that hooks over the back of the rack, and the bag is then tensioned forwards and held in place by a single mini voile strap. Super secure but equally very quick to remove if needed. Final few bits I’d like to add are some moto/cruiser style bars and probably some of the restrap rack straps in place of the Voile one I have currently

These popped up on my Instagram feed today - no idea if available in UK and I definitely can’t afford, but I want one nonetheless

Cross post from the rack thread:
Does anyone have any bright ideas or pointers on how to have a quick release mount for a standard light on to a Pelago commuter that wouldn’t foul a pannier if I tried to attach?
Current thinking is to use a p-clip with a female garmin mount bolted on, and male garmin mount stuck to the back of the light, or bodge something from a cannibalised square light mount.Any help or pointers much appreciated.

Re the Sage/Breville vs. Gaggia chat, it’s worth considering who will be using the machine. If you want to tinker and faff, Gaggia etc all day long. If you want something that will heat up quickly and be usable by multiple members of the household then get a Sage/Breville. Once the beans are dialled in my wife will happily make herself a milky coffee with the Sage, but no chance would she do that with a more analogue machine like a Gaggia with temp surfing/slow heat up times etc etc. Going for something like a bambino or duotemp and separate grinder shouldn’t make any difference to non coffee nerd usability (once the beans are dialled in) and opens up a load of flexibility for doing filter grinds. If I could go back I wish I’d gone down the Bambino and separate grinder route.

Sage Barista Express owner here - love it, fits your use case almost exactly and definitely a strong recommend from me. However I think the Bambino plus and DF54/Sage Smartgrinder combo gets you the same benefits of the BE (usability, reliability, good value) with added benefits of the ability to switch up grinds if you also want to do aeropress/pour over etc, and if something goes wrong or want to upgrade you can replace the individual parts as needed. The combo would be my top choice at your price bracket.

This is what we’ve been on for the past 6 months or so, since EVOO went through the roof. I quite like it for general purpose cooking oil, still got a nice bit of flavour to it. Just make sure it’s cold pressed and UK - the cheaper stuff is extracted with some manky chemicals. I like the Lidl deluxe cold pressed stuff, at £2.75 / 500ml can’t really go wrong.

Is it just me or is the Discord UI utter wank?
