I've just installed my new sram omnium crankset onto my Cinelli mash work frame. Its a Std 68mm BB. I've greased all parts as per normal setup. Once I've tightened the non drive side with the Allen key (not with a tourque wrench as I don't have one ) there still seems to be some lateral play .Ive remove the crank arm and retightened it but there still seems to be the same play. I know I need a torque wrench and will borrow one but I've done up the bolt pretty tight .Am i missing something ? There were no spacers in the crankset kit so I assume I don't need any either ?

Lol ,yes its looks that way although I'd never think to or indeed have ever searched through someone's posts to highlight such a fact .But I can see how it looks .Basically I've invested a great deal of hard earned into this build and as my background is primarily mtb I don't have great deal of experiace with SS builds apart from an On One inbread I built a few years ago .I didn't want to fall fowl of my rear wheel slipping and marking up my new and rather expensive frame as well as any other issues that an out of line wheel might cause simply because I had not bothered to fit a chain tug. Imitadly I should of started this thread before buying the MKS chain tensioner that ended up being the wrong size anyway ,which would of saved myself £30 .And so before I spent another £30 I decided to see what others on here thought of tugs and if they were really necessary .Which it appears there not ,so I'm left with a pair to sell and can push forward with the final jobs to complete this bike .
Cheers

Thanks chaps I'm happy with all this posotive new of the fact they are not needed.
The hubs I'm using are Tensile .I will see how the cerated washers grip .I had looked at the Phil wood chrome dome washers but as they have a inner lip so to speak that sits in the trackend I don't see how I can as my rear axle sits in the trackend so there isn't really any room .
Anyway hopefully all will be ok .
Fingers crossed -

I'm building a cinelli mash work SS bike and I've just bought some MKS chain tugs which unfortunately don't fit due to my dropouts being to wide .I don't really like the larger chunky ones and wondered if they are really necessary .My rear axle has the Allen key type bolts with the cerated inner face for grip.any help would be great.

Only arrived today but unfortunately I made a mistake with my measurements. So selling my MKS chain tugs .These are the nicer stealth looking 5mm ones with the neat Allen key adjuster rather than the hex head which I doubt you'll find anywhere as I had a mare .
Cost me £30 plus post will take £30 delivered .

Im building a single speed bike up using a Cinelli mash work frame .I though it would be best to use chain tugs and so bought a set of the MKS 5mm chain tugs as they look nice and small and well made .
They turned up today but sadly I couldn't get them to fit over the rear dropouts .I think if I filed the dropout ends they would fit but having just spent £750 on the frame I'm a little reluctant to do that .But wondered if it's common issue and if so do most file the dropout ends ? -

He's replied finally . He says his kids were meant to be shipping Monday/Tuesday but it's second class so guess I need to wait till next Tuesday before taking any action . Just annoying when you can't get hold of people or companies when they sell to the public . I don't normally entertain any online company if it hasn't got a working phone number except for wiggle I guess .

I've just purchased a pair of tensile hubs from a chap called mike who I think owns rock and roll bikes in Nottingham and might be something to do with super cycles . He advertises on eBay but also has a website where I bought the tensile hubs . He said they would be sent right away and yet I have received zero plus his shop number is cut off and his mobile isn't answered ever . I messaged him via eBay initially before ordering and he replied but now I've paid I can't get hold of him .Im going to contact PayPal tomorrow but wondered if anyone either knows if the shop is still trading or if they have another number .
