Rolling down to Boulogne this weekend 24/25th May for the vintage bike rally.

Me and a mate will be going fixed, another guy will be cheating with lots of gears.

Haven't been before so should be interesting. Will take my grandad's 1939 Scott Dragon, fairy heavy, but rides nice.

Saturday: Ride to Dover, get the boat to Calais, ride to Boulogne, get smashed, sleep.
Sunday: Ride around the route of the old Boulogne grand prix circuit, get more smashed, ride home.

Yeah the marshes there when the mist comes in are spooky.
Will be having a little ride from Whitstable to Margate with a few mates on Sunday if anyone in the area fancies tagging along. Will involve a few stops for liquid carbs.

I tried one of those multi key things and they're 15's. I will get one of those keys that grips on more than 2 sides as you suggest.
I will lube my nipples (hehehe) and forget about them for a while to allow for penetration.
The eyelets on the old Fiamme tubular rims are a bit rusty!

As long as they work I dont worry about the noise. Some times new brakes need to bed in properly and get an even coating of pad material on the rim. But that clearly doesn't apply on Sparkies bike!

If you want a diy non-cycling but waterproof suggestion .. my only experience of carbon finishing is with fishing rods. Id just try to seal it with Gudebrod acrylic fishing rod varnish or Flexcoat high build epoxy. Both fairly cheap.

Any idea what size of key I should get for some 1960's road wheels?

Took half the day off today. Went out for a litte ride to Seasalter on the old tubs (only a 10m round trip)
130psi, no punctures but narrowly avoided a nail in the road. It was bloody windy you can tell the weathers going to change.

Stopped in a field for a piss on the way back.

Cheers Ste, yeah I noticed the lumpyness around the valve, had trouble with the first but the second one stuck smoother around the valve. Used glue initially but will take tape/pitstop/co2 for roadside repairs. Ill check out the conti sprinters thanks! Moved out of London and am riding country lanes in Kent, less glass but more cars doing 60mph.

Is anyone running tubs on their road machines? I know they have their drawbacks but i have an old road bike id like to keep original spec if possible. Im on the Vittoria Rallies ATM (much cheapness) and was wondering what tub tape and pump other tub freaks carry for back up?

Just though id say hi, great forum - tons of info.
Since selling my Fuji track Im currently rolling on a ss mtb i built up from new bits and bobs and a 1960's 5 speed road bike with tubs. Using the road bike more at the minute as being a decorator my knees are trashed!
